No I mean open one that you installed, they arent setup to run from disc. For example go to F/Emulators or whichever partition you installed to and try clicking on the xbe. Because if it will run like that, then it means definitivly that its a dash issue, since the installer is its own dashboard (modified UnleashX)
Ok.. my bad.. I tried running from xbox hard drive through file manager and I get the same black screen.

So that means theres something up with the BIOS/chip , M$ files must be good otherwise it wouldnt run XBMC. You can try using AID to reflash the chip with the same BIOS. And if that still leaves you hanging then its time to install a new chip or a softmod and disable the chip

Thanks for your continued assistance!
I've got a pretty old chip. I'm pretty sure it's not flashable. I ran BIOS checker via AID and the screen will not get past loading, please wait..
I don't mind going the softmod route but I have no idea how to disable the chip. Any suggestions?

If it doesnt have a switch the only option is to remove it, but before doing that get the eeprom.bin backed up and transfered to your PC. You can use either Evox or AID for the backup. Then remove the chip and HDD, download Autobuilder and follow the included video, for making an installer disc and doing the instalation and hook the HDD back up and you should be good to go. You will need a PC with IDE ports to do this method of installation

SPPV - thanks again for the direction. I think I'm going to possibly look into buying a used xbox. The chip was soldered on and I've never soldered or un-soldered anything before. I'm confused as to how the chip/bios was damaged. I have a backup of my xbox hard drive from when it was working before. I wiped the c drive on my xbox and ftp'd the c drive backup over and I'm still getting the screen freezing when I try and load any emulator. Is there anything else I could possibly try before I have to go the softmod route?
I still have the original hard drive that came with the system if that helps at all. I received the xbox modified with the original drive and I then upgraded the hard drive. (This was many, many years ago)
Thank you!

You should take a picture of the chip so we can see what it is. Then we can point you in the right direction _________________
