hi there to all. i have had a chipped xbox for years now, and installed aid way back. I have a friend who has an xbox retail, and i was thinking, is it possible to use my xbox to softmod his, by swapping out the hard drive for his, load up AID then install the softmod to his hard drive and boot his xbox up already modded without doing any game save stuff etc.... any help would be really apreciated as i cant really find any info regarding exactly what i want to do

You can't do that because the HDD is locked. If you have an eeprom reader though, this could work but it would be dangerous and you would need backups otherwise you could end up with two useless Xboxes.

That is not possible because his hard drive is locked to his Xbox. Since your Xbox won't have the eeprom needed to unlock the hard drive, that wouldn't work.
Your best bet would be to pick up one of the games that work with SID. Then use AID on your Xbox and go into the advanced options. There should be an option in there that allows you to setup a memory card with all of the files to softmod the Xbox with SID. Do that and then use that memory card on your friends Xbox to softmod it. It shouldn't take much time at all and the games that are moddedable are pretty cheap these days if you look on Ebay. _________________
