You need a modchip and a special BIOS. You need to flash your modchip with the BIOS and then use what ever you used to unlock the HDD to lock it. If you can't do this, can you explain your problem a bit more?

The easiest way would be to install a modchip yes. With a modchip fitted your xbox will boot even if your hdd is unlocked.

Since your softmodded this thread may help:

Or this one;

HOTSWAP:recover a hd without eeprom backup **

I wish i could be of more help but im a modchip man myself.

If you have the eeprom fixing this is childs play. Download any Pimped edition, add the eeprom.bin to the eeprom folder, run makeiso.win burn the ISO to disc, unhook all HDD from your PC and hook the XBOX HDD to it, turn on the PC and put in the disc. Once it boots pick option 3, now type lockhd -a and hit enter. It should say command completed succesfuly now turn off the PC unhook the HDD and put it back in the XBOX. If you have ever locked the drive using Configmagic the master password will be set to TeamAssembly if youve ever used XBOXHDM it will be set to XBOXSCENE (these passwords can be used in DOSLocking Tools to lock and unlock the HDD if you dont have the eeprom.bin file)

YES, or to make it easier, just click the hotswap link in my sig and there is a link to DL XBOXHDM 1.9, so just DL that software and close the tutorial because that is all you need form it.

Then do what SPPV said IF you have your Eeprom backed up to your computer. Remember, before making the ISO to put your Eeprom in the e/eeprom folder to ensure the lock completes successfully!

BTW, the file is called eeprom.bin and should be approximately 256 bytes in size.
