Hey guy's been a while.

Well I've been planning on shooting a video on showing how to run a SATA drive inside of an xbox but I've never done it personally.

Heres the drive I ordered.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CCS266

And here's the chip I'm planning on using.

http://www.amazon.com/eSata-Sata-RAID-Controller-VT6421A/dp/B001118UEU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1313245326&sr=8-2

Now I did see that my older PC that I've ran SID5 on before (Intel) has a SATA port on the motherboard, so I shouldn't need the chip to run it should I? Just for the xbox it's self. Though I may still need to to run it as Master?

Another thing I've been planning is to get a Modchip done, manly because I'm tired of burning back ups :p could someone suggest me a trusted site on where to buy them?

Thanks guy's.

Chip doesnt play a part in the drive build, you still need the SATA-IDE adapter I linked you to for the build and to run it in your BOX. You can plug it direct to your MOBO with no adapter but you'll see world peace before you see HDM pick up a HDD on a SATA port. Also like Ive told just about everybody you wont see a speed increase (100% impossible due to the bandwidth limitations of the IDE controller/port) and you will need to use XBPartition to reformat everything over 500GB in the proper cluster size. Even then you will more than likely still get ghosting and data corruption. Also with the latest Pimped edition backups arent necesary you can coldboot a copy of my UnleashX v.40 Beta and go in and do any needed repairs, format drives, install new dashboards etc. I do it all the time now and will have a vid up eventualy of how to use v.40 to do repairs on an xbox with a hookered drive.

Personaly Id say save the coin and stick with softmod, a little research and time and you will be as comfortable as me with going in without worry cause short of hardware failure virtualy any issue on a softmodded xbox can be fixed inside of 10 minutes.

But if youre set on a chip Hobbs posted a thread on the homepage of where to buy chips.

Hi SPPV, I was going to ask you for that chip link again, I had to reformat due to a new HDD go figure ha and lost all my bookmarks.

Personally I wanted to try this for the experience and to show other people what it can do but I'm against Hardmodding myself.

So your new release can run Xbox games from the HDD it's self? I'll have to look into that sometime this week.

Yep the new Unleashx can be run entirely from disc or from the gamesave with no actual install. I'll have to check around on the adapter the place I used to get em from doesnt sell them anymore.

One thing that may help you with all your cooked HDD is I figured out how to use a softmodded XBOX to switch HDD between XBOXs. You have to be careful though cause its unforgiving. Im gonna do a video after work tonight I just did it yesterday since my toiwer only has 1 IDE channel and cant do builds and switched a 30GB Maxtor from my crystal to my brothers XBOX in about 5 minutes. You may be able to use this on all those 500GB HDD youve been going through.

Drop me a line later on skype if youre around and we can bang a few ideas around and see if we can get any of those working for ya. Remembver my skype is just my gamertag.
