Okay so I have a softmodded xbox and wanted to know of a way to get apps and such on it without an xbox memory card. Obviously these xbox's don't have USB on them. Can I do it via disc or should I just run an ethernet cable to it to bring it into the network?

I guess you can go both ways.
But via AID disc it will install at the right places. So you don't have to do it yourself.

Thanks for the quick reply I have a couple DVDs so maybe I'll get a few apps from here and see if I can get a few to install.

Personally, I believe the best way is through FTP (have your xbox connected to your network). FTP is reliable, fast and gets the job done simple as ever!

Just make sure your computer and xbox console are connected to the same network. Your xbox console must have the network settings set to DCHP, this can be changed somewhere in the Options/Tools menu depending on the dashboard installed. After the settings have been changed you must restart your xbox console.

Download any FTP application such as FlashFXP or FileZilla. Open your FTP application and type the IP address of your xbox (can be found in network settings of the menu depending on the dashboard installed). Type in "xbox" without the quotation marks in the username and password box. The username and password are the same!

Once you have connected to your xbox console, navigate into the E folder and create a folder named Applications, and then Emulators. This is where your downloaded content will be stored. Good Luck!

Yeah I ended up doing FTP and have to say it is 10 times easier. I have been browsing the downloads section are there any fun apps or useful apps to put on the xbox? So far I have

XBMC
DVD2Xbox

There are tons, I would check out a few of the emulators! Xbox Media Center is probably the most useful homebrew application for the xbox though!

You only have to use DHCP if using 3rd party software you can use static IP if using Internet Explorer to FTP but a crossover cable is required
