i have 2 question that i can not find the answer to any where

first question is does any one know where i can buy and orginal xbox solderless modchip no stores seem to have them instock the only one i can find is the duo one which involves soldering which iv never done before so i dont know what to solder ect
my secound question iis i have 3 og xboxes 2 of them have bad power supplyes but both there hard drives have stuff on them that i want i would like to use thoes in my working orginal xbox but cant find a way to do this with out wiping them

i guess im trying to ask how to use a hdd from an xbox with no power in a working xbox with out erasing anything from the hdd of the broken xbox

hopefully i have expolained my question in an understandable way im not good at puting thoughts in to words

Theres 2 ways to do it. 1 is to chip or flash the xbox. as long as it has the eeprom/ HDD lock requirement you cant switch out the drives for ones from another xbox.

Other way is if you have the eeprom for those dying xboxs you could take the drive put it in a pc unlock it, then lock it using the eeprom from the xbox you want the drive in.

ive also read i could switch out the eprom chips but soldering is a no go for me

when u unlock a drive does it erase every thing in it

is there a way i could unlock the harddrive using one of the tools for swapping harddrives then relock it with the eproom from the working xbox
the reason the other 2 xboxes are broken is cus the power supplys are bad and the working one has a different plug on the power supply
the last power supply that stoped working the part the power cord plug into is very lose if i move it it shoots out orange sparks ect dont know hoe to fix that.

id love to mod it but i cant find a place selling solderless ones

how hard is it to solder the duo modchip that some stores still have

Theres been a few claims of being able to unlock a drive without eeprom, but they are all either BS or a bricking waiting to happen. Unlocking and locking causes no loss of data, its just like unlocking the front door. The sparks means you have two live points of electricity coming in contact causing arcing. If you dont like to solder go for an NK softmod, only difference is you still need to lock the drives otherwise it can do pretty much everything a chip can. Plus once you get a little more comfortable with solder if its a 1.4 or older you can flash it with a hacked bios which is all a modchip is. Ive never done a chip so I cant say how hard it is but I soldered my first parralel cable to a snes to dump games when I was 13 so soldering is pretty much childs play Laughing

The auto installer disk has a built in TSOP flasher you just need to solder your points, as for a dash you just use aid as if you had a chip and set up the HDD the way you want it.

As Wes mentions, flash the TSOP
you claim soldering is a no go .... you can use Conductive paint/ink to bridge the write enable points - you can get some for a couple of quid on eBay.

I would never do it if it was my only xbox but i did do a TSOP flash or two by holding a flat tip screwdriver over the gap till the flash finished. Wink
