Yesterday I tried to upgrade from original 8Gb to 500GB IDE through Chimp.
Read the tutorial and opened the box. Made all connections - bearing in mind the jump settings and the slightly loose IDE on DVD.
Power on...A small click from the power unit jumping to red and nothing happened...
Turned the power unit to green and xbox turned on. However from this moment on I always get 07 error, even returning to standard settings.

Anyone got a suggestion?

Thanks in advance

Yep, have switched IDE cable. Have tried jumper on master and cable select.
Is it possible some how I got a power issue? The DVD has power (the drive opens) but I can't be sure about the HDD.

My plan is to connect my desktop power to the hdd and HDD in my pc to try.

Will I mess [any more] something?

It was a softmod and I was about to use Chimp.

But from the pictures i've seen today, i could say that it seems to have some chip installed... Could it be possible?

being sucha newbie and not even realizing what kind of mod that thing has!... I'll be home in a while and will deliver news - with images.

EDIT
I'll have the power source test now.
These are the pics.

That's a modchip right?

EDIT
Having hdd on xbox but power through PC = nothing
HDD on PC in the place of DVD drive = no aditional HDD seen.

Does this mean HDD is completely dead?

That looks like an Alladin ModChip to me .......... Stick your large hard drive in the xbox and boot up with AID, it will detect the new hard drive and format it for you, then proceed to install a dashboard to the C partition then whatever other goodies you require to your F partition.

You shouldn`t get any errors with the new Harddrive.

Try the IDE cable and set the Harddrive jumper to cable select

I've tried that in the several jumper postions. Nothing.

I've also changed IDE cable...

Should I push the jumper settings as hard as I can or leave it slightly outside?

If you have the eeprom backup you can build a new drive with you pc.

The box is always save, you can fix the 07 error too.
I dont like the ide swap thing,i`ve killed one hdd whit it Sad
