Hey guys and gals.

Sorry if i have posted in the wrong thread i wasn't quite sure where to slot this one in.
Anyways I was just wondering if there is a way to speed up my FTP from my PC to xbox. My setup is my PC is using a USB wireless card and my xbox is wired into my router using an ethernet cable, i'm using flashFXP and am getting roughly 900KB/s. Just wondering if there is anyway to speed this up as I have read on the internet that people are getting much faster speeds when they FTP.

Thanks Very Happy

What dash are you using? If you go into the settings of the dash there should be an option to boost FTP and your speeds should increase up to about 6 mb/sec.

Hey, I got my FTP from 2MBps to 10-13MBps by using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), this can be done only if you have a computer with a wireless card and a ethernet connection port.
Here are a few tutorials that should help you enable ICS,
How to configure Internet Connection Sharing in Windows XP
Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) in Windows Vista
Once you are finished, just do exactly the opposite you did to enable it.
Once you your ICS configuration set up, just plug in your Xbox to your wired port on your computer and then turn on your xbox and it will give you your IP, then just transfer the same way you are right now. I found this out just by testing and I will problably write up a tutorial. I had to use this because whenever I started transfering a file, my internet would cut out. But I found out its alot more better and faster to do it this way! Good Luck!

Thanks for the help guys. Im running XBMC so I will try change my settings from there and see if I can boost the speed.

And in relation to ICS yes I have experimented with it before for both FTP using my xbox and ICS to my xbox 360 to play on live but I have a problem when ever I try ICS. It seems that whenever I enable ICS my LAN port on my PC gets given an IP similar to 192.168.0.3

The problem with this is our DHCP hands out IP's on a different range which is around 10.1.1.2 to 10.1.1.89 or something like that(my wireless card generally gets given 10.1.1.2), cant be stuffed checking the exact range at the moment. Anyways because my ethernet port is getting an IP that is not in the range of the our router it doesn't connect to the network, and no it doesn't have a static ip address

Are you making sure that you are setting the ICS on the right connection? And you can manually set your IP Address. Just copy all your current settings and change the IP Address to one in the correct range for your router.
