Alright, so my Xbox hard drive died.. it wont boot at all. it was a 40 GB

Tried putting it in the freezer ( started up for 10 mins) but wouldn't read anything. even tried hooking it up to the computer.

so its dead. which poses a problem :S

i got a new hard drive installed it properly. formatted fresh

Every CD/DVD i burn i get the same error code

16 - dashboard - Clock cannot be set.

So i have been looking around how to fix this, so i downloaded the "auto installer " and i still get the same damn error no matter what i throw in,

problem 1:
i don't have my EEPROM Sad (i know, stupid move lol )

anything i put in the tray wont read. (error code 16 )
and i still get the service error

how do i get my Xbox back to functional condition?

also as i side note. how do i find out if my Xbox is soft modded or hardware modded?

thanks for any help!

If the Xbox is chipped you need to get a chip programmer and change the BIOS and if the Xbox is softmodded then you need the original HDD so the xbox can launch the MS dash and find the clock.

Well to find out what you got just open the xbox and look under the disk tray for the chip, if you get lucky it might have a bank select and you can just switch that.

If you are not sure what your looking for in the xbox just open it up and lift the disk drive and post a pic here, we will be able to tell you if its chipped.

Install an app called 360 explorer to your PC and then hook the error 16 hard drive to the PC, from there you will want to open the C drive and rebuild you C drive.

While you are in there go in the E drive and look for a copy of your eeprom file to back up to your PC desk top.

Yes, I had the same problem first, make sure your BIOS is set to loading your PC hard drive that has Windows Installed on it, then having the Xbox Hard drive set as the second. Then, right when your BIOS is loading, hit the Pause/Break key on your keyboard, plugin your hard drive (the power plug must be plugged in before the computer is started) and hit the Pause/Break key or any key on your keyboard depending on your BIOS. Once your hard drive is detected, load XPlorer360 and it should find a drive formatted as FATX, that would be your Xbox Hard drive, then, look for a copy of the original Xbox 1 Dashboard, then, overwrite Partition 1 with your Xbox dashboard. Then, close XPlorer360, shutdown Windows, and then you can unplug your hard drive and test it out.

Good Luck,
LegendaryFire
