I got all the innards out, but I can't get past this point. I pull those three tabs in front, but I still can't get it off.

I also want to get the heat shield and everything out of there. And that fan. I want every single possible piece apart. Helpy...

The fan is simple. It has two clips on the side. Just push them in and pull the fan out.

I have never taken off the bottom heat shield, but I am sure it's easy.

Are you talking about the holes on the Eject Power PCB? The LED's that are connected now from factory have three legs. They actually each have two colors.

You can use standard LED's, but then you have to snip one of the negative legs and solder to the other negative leg on the top side since there are only three holes and not four.

I am doing one right now for one of our members. He wans the light to be Blue, but yet still have the red error. So, I have to put two LED's side by side. Four legs into three holes just doesn't cut it, so a little snipping and soldering is in order. Plus, you have to use a dremel and notch out a little area on the front panel so that the two LED's side by side wont create a problem with the PCB sitting flush.

See this image. Notice that two squares. that is where you have to notch out because the two LED's side by side won't fit. Notice the oval. That is where the regular MS LED is.

I'm taking more pics now, but I am somewhat busy I have four machines to finish and ship out by 5pm tomorrow. And, they are all getting extensive case modding done. Controller port LED's, Eject LED's, El Wire, and I gotta clear out jewels and install 10LED Rings....

ah hey man, don't worry about it.

i was just wondering in general where to get leds since i've vnevar boutght them before.

i got the dremel out tonight, and thankfully still have all my fingards. i openned the holw for the led a bit, and have th first coat of paint on the bttons and the back of the case.

i want to put blue leds in, but i don't know how to do it. i'm sur your other tutorial you postsed (wich i copied to my comp) will do the trick, so dont concern urself with making a new one. i just need to know where to get the leds. i checked my local readio chack and couldn't find them.

ur a big help, MGH, and i appreciate your help. now get back to wokr. Laughing

I usually buy mine from either www.123leds.com or www.xboxrepairguide.com

Here is a pic I just took as I was finishing a eject board that someone wanted two colors.

The bottom LED is the main color. He wanted blue. The top color is Red, the error color. So, when the Xbox does a frag or error, it would flash blue/red blue/red, and anytime it would need to display an orange color, it would combine the two making a purple color.

As you can see, where I drew a line going to that is where I snipped one of the negative legs on the LED and soldered it to the other negative leg that was inserted into the hole.

Now, on the other side, the primary color (blue would be on the top and the error color would be on the bottom. It's always opposite.

Hope this has helped you.

BTW, radio shack's LED suck. They are only 600mcd. You want 3mm LED's that are anywhere from 4000 to 8000mcd. That is the brightest I found.

123leds.com are only .17 each for standard LED's...xboxrepairguide.com are .15 but he is out of stock last I checked.

Just let me know if you need help. The only strong piece of advice I can really give you is to make sure you totally desolder the stock LED's before you pull the legs out of the holes Otherwise, you will ruin the board by damaging the contact pads. I have done that before.
