Hey guys and gals I am having some trouble backing up halo2..it seems to be just a touch bigger than a dvd...is there any files that can be deleted before I make the iso or do I have to span it across 2 disks? _________________ XBOX V1.5

What a great game!!
I didn't realize that Halo 2 would take up more than 4 gigs. Not sure how that can be when I have just the one dvd I bought and it plays the entire game. Unless it's the Ultimate version or whatever the Silver boxed edition is called. Pitiful since that's the one I bought and can't remember what it's called. That has two disks due to added content but isn't the actual game. Can Xboxes read double density DVD's? Is there some kind of data encoding that allows some of the data to be zipped or something until used? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Not all Xbox's will read burned DL DVD9 disks, so before you go burning a 12.00 coaster be sure it will. It will read DVD9 Pressed Disks fine, that is how they come from the developers/distributors. They are not burned, they are pressed.
You can remove certain files that will reduce the size of the game so it will fit on one DVD5 disk (4.7GB).
The Pal Version that was leaked came with a batch file that extracted the .iso and made some changes to it so it would fit on one disk. I don't know if this file would work with the NTSC version or not. We have a post somewhere on here that tells you what files can be removed, but I cannot locate the post.

Good laws what I learn from this place. I had no clue about that! Thanks TheModGod!! You rock. Is there a way aside from the obvious of burning one, that will tell you whether the Xbox version one has is capable of reading a burnt DL DVD9? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

If you look in the MEDIA folder when you rip the files to your PC, you can delete the FONT file that is in there. It is about 22MB in size and is not needed. It will fit just fine after you delete that file.
Some people delete the LIVE files in the root but then you cant play LIVE on XBCONNECT.
