Ok, it seems to only do this on cold boots, 1st boot it will display the xbox logo and the ring blinks green. You cannot open a dvd at this point. Shut it off and boot again, it will boot right into the softmod dash . I have reseated ide cables. Wondering if this is the dvd going bad ? clock has been set. Any ideas, it does get irritating

Ok so it does boot on cold boot up of the XBOX correct?
If this is correct, it could just be that the XBOX is trying to load the Dashboard first which could just indicate its not seeing any reason to boot the AID ISO, so you may want to re-burn it and try and throw like a 100MB dummy file in there with it and see if this helps. Also, try going into your XBOX file manager and deleting E:CACHE and any contents that may be in your X Y and Z partitions!
Hello Hypnotix,

Let me clarify, the xbox is already soft modded. Works fine. If I cold boot the xbox with nothing in the dvd it hangs on the logo and the ring flashes green endlessly. I power down, then power up and it will boot properly into the XBMC dash. I have verified this with unleash also, that upon cold boot it will hang on the xbox logo. Also with a dvd in the tray, it will hang during the loading portion of it ex. mech assault. Once the xbox has been powered on for the day, it will always boot flawlessly, just the first boot of the day it hangs.

AHHH ok now i get it lol sorry.
This could be multiple things. It could be bad softmod files, possibly the cache as stated above, but i doubt its the issue considering it boots fine after initial turn on of the day...i would maybe try a new IDE cable, and see if you can hear any clicks or anything coming from the HDD maybe? Its possible it will fail soon as well. _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

HDD is a 1 week old WD320, the old was a 40g seagate. New IDE cables, I set it back to factory settings and resoftmodded using sid 3.1 and the gamesave. The only piece of original hardware is the dvd, it flakes out on dvd games once in a while.
Have you tried setting the jumper on the hard drive to Cable Select ? _________________
