I wrote this because people tried to help me, I went a different route and successfully restored my BOX. This is a thanks for this site.
This is for people with enough PC skills to know what jumper settings to set and basic configuration skills
so you blew up your soft-modded xbox installing a larger hard-drive. (I'm cheap so this cost me one dvdrw)
first thing you want to do is get xboxhdm.(which is a bootable linux live with fatx support)
Burn it boot to it.
choose to partion the drive
once that is complete choose the rebuild drive option.I rebuilt c and E(there are online manuals on how to use xboxhdm)
From there I choose option 6 to generate a hd lock key "The key will change with every harddrive, It will not stay the same"
From there you can write down the key, and reboot. Choose option 3 Linux with unlock tools, type lockhd -p KEYGOESHERE or you can
or make the floppy which automaticly moves the generated key to the disk, reboot to the floppy and run lockhd.
You can verify the actual drive locking by rebooting to the cd, default option 1, during hardwhere ID syslog will spew out a bunch of /DEV/HDA errors.
Now we go to the xbox with the drive, set the jumper to CS.
You now have a stock XBOX.
I then used the game save exploit which is in the SID instructions.
Once you go through the SID, I would recommend booting to AID reformatting F: and G: as XBOXHDM might have not completed those 2 drives.
While in AID load the apps you would like.
You are now done.
Goodluck
