hi there all..

im semi new to the xbox modding scene. I know a little bit but im no expert. I recently finished my modded xbox stand up arcade unit and just had some general questions for you all.

my main question is...how do you get kixxx, the killer instinct 1+2 emulator to play in 480 or 720 definition? I have the x2vga2 hooked up to a computer monitor. There is probably some setting im missing, but i didn't see anything in the menu on the left side...could be missing it, idk. My xbox has the settings right, its just that emulator. If there isn't a setting within kixxx, is there a way to make it back to composite video with some kind of box...besides just plugging a tv in?

is there a way to make midway arcade treasures play higher then 480?

what games do you all recommend for the arcade experience? I have the quasicon for controls, and using the arcade sticks really makes old games fun again.

thanks guys
-jeff

Hi guitardude22,

Welcome to the HQ's.
So your xbox is running in 720p mode for all your other stuff??
KIXXX may not support HD in all modes but your best bet would be to read the documentation about it.

Have you got any pictures of your STAND UP ARCADE UNIT. I was looking into doing something similar with my MODDED XBOX with EXTRA RAM.

l8r,

it runs whatever the emulator or xbox games supports. I have unleashx running as the dashboard. In the settings you can tell your xbox to run 480, 720, or 1080....where you say "no" or "yes" to....If the emu supports it, it will run the higher of the defs, I"m pretty sure is how it works. You know all this right?...i feel like im preaching to the choir, lol. With a little bit of tweaking, the baed home systems disc will do either def. I'm just looking for the ability to switch kixxx to at least 480....cuz you can see the lines and the display is wavey cuz its standard setup is component video, and i have it composite.

where is the kixxx documentation? i just thought someone would know this since it's not a super in depth question....though this has only been posted for like a day Smile

Ill put some pics up once i get a bulb for the light i have in the display...its really cool...total party favor!

thanks!

Nice set up you have there, you might want to check out CoinOps Showcase, its a cool up to date MAME emulator.

I use component cables on my xbox,if you want to run kixxx in 720p mode this is what you do.
1.on the main screen hit the X button to bring up your main menu and go to video disply modes.
2.there you can choose between
480i 4/3
480i 16/9
720/480i 4/3
720/480i 16/9

if you are looking for more arcade emulation then i would duggest coinops reignite which user1 suggested.
also i would suggest you try final burn which emulates the sega games which coinops reignite cannot emulate.
check your pm.

ha...i found that menu like right after i posted my picture.

thanks for the pm...i use baed home systems, which has nes, super, sega, atari, etc....so im happy with those, as far as home system type stuff. Smile

now, this is gonna be hard to explain i think,...ill give it a shot.

ok, i see in that menu what you are talking about. So i use the x2vga2 by neoya, so i can use a gateway 21 inch monitor to the xbox. I switch the res's in that menu you said....when i do this, the kixxx menu just gets bigger and doesn't center and what not...could be a common problem, yet my other emus seem to just "get it" and center themselves adn look great. The game does the same when you start it...so you just use "adjust screen" and shrink it back....but when i get it where i think it is centered and as big as i can get it on that screen, the resolution is not high def....in fact every res (480 thru 1080) looks the exact same.....its like the monitor doesn't understand what is happening, with p and i too. Oh, and if i put in mortal kombat armageddon, an xbox game for example, it looks great and switches to 720 without needed screen adjust.

what is up here?

some emulators do this basically the screen has stretched because of the change in resolution which i know is obvious but i just tried it out just now on a 37 inch hd lcd tv but i never had that problem with the screen stretching.
i know fbaxxx pro does this as well,it could just be because you are using a vga instead of a component cable.
