Hey folks - I was planning on doing the softmod with the softmod installer deluxe 5.0
The manual is talking about a memory card or a usb device to perform it.
I have an usb stick with an usb interface adapter.
But when I plug the stick with the data into the box I get a message that it's not working properly and tthat it's erased.
the data is gone and it has a special format afterwards.
what's wrong? Does this mean that my stick is not working with the xbox?
I have another usb stick that is not even found when plugged in, so I thought that one wasn't compatible...
thx folks!

The USB drive you are using, once the xbox has formatted it, stick it back in your PC and see if you can access it through xplorer360 .... then `Drag` your softmod files to it. _________________

i read about that somewhere.
I also tried, but the data then does not show if i try to access it in the xbox menu.
Did I get it right from the manual:
SID5 installer and SID5loader for the game as zipped files injected to the drive?
I would just `Drag` the folders inside each zip.
double click on the SID loader, then the UDATA folder then drag folder 5553000c to your memory card (through xplorer360) and the same for the Installer, drag folder 21585554. _________________

the manual sounded like I should drop the zipped files on the drive, not the folder inside
Quote:
To copy the game save over to your device, these programs support the drag and drop
feature just like Windows. So, open your desired program and then drag and drop the .zip
or .gsx file to the memory card. In about half a minute or so it should be done.
I don't know what changed since yesterday, but if i now open the drive with xplorer360, the drive shows, I inject a file via drag n drop, the process bar shows and then the drive is not listed anymore. being opened again it still seems to be empty as the folder is not listed on the drive.
am I doing something wrong?
If I try to use the menu to eject a file edit-insert folder, nothing shows up to select a file...

You need to use action replay software, and modify the driver to use the PID of your usb drive.
insert the usb drive into your xbox via the usb adapter, format the usb drive, then using action replay and teh modified driver. drag the zip of the softmod into the action replay window. _________________ Please post all PC Questions at PC-HQ.com

got a link for the PAL version handy?
couldn't find it on the codejunkies version...
The files in the SID download are zipped to work with Action Replay, Action Replays a p.o.s, if you just drag the two folders (21585554 & 5553000c) into the xplorer360 window it works just the same way.
When you open xplorer360, click on `drive` > then `open hard drive or memory card` > then your memory card should display on the left hand window, double click it to see the installed folders. _________________

ok, i managed it to copy them on the thumb drive and they show in the xbox menu.
but here is the next problem - there is no copy option, only delete.
There are other old savegames on the box, so there should be storage space (talks about 5000+blocks, whatever that means).
I even deleted some other savegames to maybe make room, but didn't help.
what's wrong?

When you are looking at the two circle shaped file icons press to the right on the directional pad and it will say copy as if it was magic.
Highlite the SID files then press RIGHT on the D-pad, the option to copy should appear. _________________

ok, next step resolved - I feel like the first human!
which install to take? I have no HD TV, but I might get one one day. so does it make the picture worse on an old TV?
• Standard
• Standard for HD
• Virtual C + Eeprom
• Virtual C + Eeprom for HD
and what's the virtualC+Eeprom about? Couldn't find anything in the manual!
assuming I'd go for standard, I have no clue about the dashboard oprions to choose from
EvoX od UnleashX
also no info here in the manual...

Virtual C just means that your actual C drive cannot be messed with. I personally always just do a standard install with unleashX. Most people just move to XBMC with AID right away anyways, so it doesn't really matter what dash you choose. _________________
