i was wondering if evox could play dvds without any dongle or anything , just by itself. and if not, how would i switch to XBMC from evox, cause i know XBMC can play dvds.

Just download DVD-X v2.0 and install it to your Apps.

Yup, you can ftp any app onto the xbox and then EVOX should automatically detect it.. If not you can edit your .ini file to specify it!
