I've scoured the net looking for an appropriate answer but alas i have not and now I'm Here.

I want to connect my Original Xbox to xbox live wirelessly through my laptop.

I have a crossover cable and I bridged the connection

The connect status tells me the cables are connected but after that it says there's a problem with DNS servers not being found. I will keep at it but I hope someone has dealt with this before.

Thanks for your time

Sounds like you need to set the XBOX to static and not DHCP in the network settings.

Hey thanks for the reply, could you elaborate on that a little further?
That's not something I change on the xbox right?

Check your PC and XBOX network settings and make sure they are both set to static and they don't have the same IP address.

If that don't help it might be the wireless connection causing the error.

Have you tried hooking the xbox in to the router or modem alone?

I got passed the IP config steps, now the only problem is the DNS server.

and yes I did connect strait to the router and it worked no problem

Check the DNS numbers you get when hooked to the router and add them when hooked to the lap top.

Do would I find those numbers on the pc by doing an ipconfig/all and finding it there while the xbox is plugged in direct? Or should they show up on the box?

If your using the MS stock dash just go to settings/network settings/DNS.
