Recently I picked up an already modded Xbox v1.1, It has what looks to be a Xodus chip.
And has/had EvoX Software.
Problem i'm having is:
The Dash seems to have corrupted, I believe the 120gb HD is going bad.
It will boot the blue modchip xbox logo then go to the "superfrog" error screen, but its distorted.
Being hard modded, All i have to do is make a slayers disc and auto install to a new hard drive right?
Do i need to be concerned about chip flashing or anything like that? hasnt it already been done (it WAS working)?
If so im just having the dreaded Thompson drive scenario, Been through 3 types of dvd media so far and a cd-rw, with no loads.
Is there no possible way to pre-make the partitions and load the dash files via a PC or something?
*BTW~Sorry if this is in the wrong area.

Put in an origenel xbox game and see if it can boot that and we can go from there once i know.
Might just need to build a HDD with xboxHDM and go from there.

Well i got it already modded, So i dont have the original Hard Drive or Files.
I just get a dash error/s screens when i put a regular xbox game in.
In the short time before the hd got messed up, The thomson drive worked perfectly fine with xbox discs~No reading problems, It just seems to not like any other media...

yep yep, been looking that over
Most of the media isnt available locally, So im gonna need to order online~And it still might be hit or miss.
I've actually got 2 thomson drives, one only seems to want to read x-box discs... I've even messed around with laser adjustment and it just acts qwuirkier.
And the one i have in my setup tries really hard on dvd-rw and cd-rw, but fails.
So just to confirm~
I'm fine as long as get a new (whiped) drive in there, And get a reading slayers disc right?
I just want to get back to the modded state it was in before.

Yes i've got slayers 2.6 and 2.7, i've also tried AID, and have been using Qwix.
I cant get nero to burn to dvd, So i've tried alcohol, imgburn and dvd decryptor for burning to dvd.

I've been burning at 4x, Ill try lower.
Think its just the media though, The memorex cd-rw has shown the most likely to want to read.
It actually starts to spin up but then gets a tick like it cant read.
Any other discs i've tried just straight up click/tick (like the eye is moving in and out but cant read).

I'm looking into buying a samsung drive now, So i can be done with this nonsense.
I've actually found someone selling an LG/Hitachi drive for an original Xbox?
I've not heard much of this drive and im not finding much about it under my searches...
Anyone know how well it compares to a Samsung?

Ok!
Recieved the xbox today~Now have a samsung drive.
Just started playing around with everything, But so far none of the discs are booting on the samsung either...
Doesnt really sound like its having trouble reading or anything, Just nothings booting~It stays on the modchip error screen 09 (hard drive).
I'll keep playing with it.
I need to thoroughly clean the drive and such anyway, As the previous owner had it so he would remove the lid of the drive to insert the disc, heh (belt was worn out, tray wouldnt open).
