I am not able to get the preview art / screenshot art for my ROMS to display in any of my emulators, except Surreal64 because AID came with it. I am using mednafenx_nes, NeoGenisis, pcsxbox, and zsnexbox. I have my art as a .png format because I read a while back that is what it is supposed to be. I also have the rom file names and art file names exactly the same, except for the file extension of course.
I have tried messing with the default screenshot location in the utilities/configuration menu in the emu's with no effect. I have look in the emu .ini files for some indication of where the emu is looking for these art files. I have placed the art files in many different locations in the emu folders hoping I would just get lucky and they would show up.
Every attempt at fixing this leads to seeing "No Preview Available" and it's getting frustrating.
I have searched this site for days looking for an answer and I have googled the hell out of this, but I have not been able to find an answer. I am feeling dumb as nobody else is having this problem that I have found, but this is the last piece I have left to finalizing my softmod. I think that I am either not pointing the emulator to look in the right place for the art, or I am not placing the art in the right place.
I installed all my emus from AID4 and FTP'd my roms over. The emu's and all are all on my G partition.
PLEASE HELP!!! This is driving me crazy!

It sounds to me like your emulators are not configured correctly.. Thats why the boxart and screenshots wont show..
Did you install the emu yourself?? If you did then edit the config file for the emulator and check that all the directories exist. This would be a good starting point.

What dir do you have your screenshots in and what line item(s) is it in the config file to edit? My emu says that the default location for screenshots is "D:\SCREENSHOTS" and I have put them in that folder with no luck. I have also tried changing that path to somewhere else with no luck.
Also, are the screenshots and boxart different topics? I am concerned about the boxart showing up when browsing ROMs. I have heard it called different things, but the box art preview shown when browsing ROMs to play is what I am talking about.

Well, that's what I thought too, but the ROMs are pointing to D:\ROMS and all the roms are showing up. I figured it was some kind of variable location. It is that way in all the emulators. If I explore the structure in the rom selection, D:\ shows as the root and I can explore all the folders within. It's like a network mapped drive (best example I can think of). D:\ is mapped to G:\emulators\%emulator name%\ . So D:\ is actually the emulator specific folder. I'm not sure if i am making sense.
While in zsnes emu: D:\ == G:\emulators\zsnes\
While in fce emu: D:\ == G:\emulators\fce
I tried to use the "default location" configuration inside the emu, but I could not browse to any level higher than D:\. If I use the "default location" config in the emu, I can browse to the D:\screenshots folder and I can acutally see all the .png files i have in there, but they don't show up on the ROM selection screen. Is .png the correct file format? I remember reading a while ago that they had to be .png. I am also totally confident that all of the ROMs and pics have the same file name (except for the file extension )
Everything else about all the emus work perfectly. Any thoughts?

So I probably should have asked this to start with...
What do you guys have you .ini pointing to for your box art, where is your box art located, and what file format are they? Also, in the default location section of the emu's, what does it say for the default screenshot location.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the screenshot / box art / previews are all the same thing, right?

i dont know if you ever fixed this, but i would think all you have to do is take a few screenshots during a game. then just file browse to see where they went, what they are named, etc. shouldnt be hard.

For mednafenx and neogenises while playing a game hit start go to game utilities and go to take screen shot, hit B and now thats your screen.
This trick with slight variations has worked on all my EMUs or you can try this.
say you dir looks like this F:/emulators/nintendo/NESroms try adding this F:/emulators/nintendo/screenshots then add your screens you want to use to F:/emulators/nintendo/screenshots
The screen must have the same name as the game: Metroid.nes Metroid.png
