Post subject: MS dash missing

Ok successfully softmodded my xbox last week. Everything went well, then I decided I wanted to set XBMC as default dash, followed a tut but when I rebooted I got a blank screen. Tried using AID 4.40 but most likely made things worse as everytime I tried to load something I got a Batch File error and a Code 3 in the log file. So I tried Slayers 2.7 and that worked but I had lost my MS Dash, so I used Slayers to format the hdd. Then tried to setup using AID to install the softmod again and it failed, kept getting an error 13 or 14 depending on whether a disc was in the DVD Drive. I can boot original game DVD's though. So I decided to use XboxHDM to rebuild the hdd, that went well and I now have UnleashX dash but obviously no MS Dash. I have backups of my MS Dash, EEPROM etc, in fact when I completed the softmod last week I copied the entire xbox over to my laptop and burned to a DVD. Is there anyway to get the MS Dash back? I'm prepared to scrub the hdd again if needed, I tried copying my MS Dash backup to the C drive on the xbox but I believe this is a virtual/shadow and it won't hold anything, is that correct? Reason I'm saying this is that the C drive on my xbox is empty and FlashFXP fails to copy over some of the MS Dash files/folders. Any help much appreciated.

Embarassed

You can run AID and in the SID section of the disk use the remove virtual C drive option and then do a softmod removel, from there just resoftmod but don't use the virtual C this time.

Thanks wes, I knew you'd be along at some point, just to add I think I already tried that and got one of the Batch file errors with the Code 3 showing up in the log file. I was thinking of cloning the original hdd that I softmodded last week to the new bigger drive, will that work?

Yeah that would work, you could chimp it and it would make it faster if you format the larger HDD first and when all is good you will need to run xboxpartitioner to get back the extra HDD space. Wink

Thanks m8, well I went a different road again, I used my backup I did last week and copied the C and E drive folders into XboxHDM overwriting the folders already under Ndure and made the ISO. I now have the larger hdd booting the bog standard MS Dash but nothing else. Why I didn't do that last night I'll never know, probably reading too much, lol, so I'll have to now run my Splinter Cell exploit again to softmod. Thanks for your input.
