Post subject: SID (re)install - batch process failed error

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a used Xbox that had been softmodded with a 120gb hdd. This would be my first time working with a softmod.

It had Avalanche on it.

I wanted to wipe it clean and set it up to my standards so I loaded my AID 4.10 w/4.12 upgrade to install SID.

I formatted for 'larger HDD' and was trying to install a dashboard. When I select the dashboard, I get a message something about making sure I have a backup. I disregarded and just wanted to install and hit OK. After that I get a BATCH PROCESS FAILED error.

I tried to search for this in the forums, but cannot find anything.

Because I purchased it already softmodded, I am not sure if I have to go through the whole process of REsoftmodding it or not. If I reformatted the hard drive, would have to REsoftmodd again?

Soft mod stands for software modification so if you format the HDD the softmod will go with it.
Your best bet would be to back up the eeprom and keep a copy of that on your PC before you make any changes at all.
Then you can (1) reset the HDD to stock and do a full softmod to the xbox or (2) use aid to format the HDD and do a softmod one click install, (2) has a huge amount of risk since a sudden reboot could lock up the xbox and force you to use xboxHDM to rebuild.

Hope that helps.

Thanks wes.

Do you know where I can find a guide to backing up the eeprom through PC-FTP ?

I think you confirmed my question, right? Since reformatting my hdd, I lost my softmod setup and have to do it over, right?

If I select 1 click softmod setup, what will it load for apps ? I am hesitant to do this, as I like to have control on what gets loaded. The only apps I want are DVD2XBOX, XBMC, and the DVD player

You can use AID to make the back up and to move it to the E drive then just FTP the xbox and copy the backup folder to your PC desk top, its that simple.

If you are getting the MS dash then yes you will need to resoftmod the xbox.

One click softmod will only install the softmod and a dash you go back and put in the APPs you want.

Thanks.

I know yesterday I couldn't locate where the option to backup was, but I will look again when I get home.

Should be able to launch the SID app and find the eeprom backup tool in there if all else fails.

ooopss!

I think I messed something up.

Yesterday, I had started working on a used xbox 120gb softmodded with avalanche by putting in an AID cd.

I reformatted the hdd and once completed, I went into the softmod section and could not load a dashboard. I ended up turning it off to deal with the next day. At least it was reformatted. . .

After getting home from work, now I tried to turn it on and now I got a error code 13 and 14.

I don't have a copy of the eeprom from the used xbox, I do have my other one that has a chip installed with. Is it possible to take the eeprom from another xbox?

Anywho, I need to know what to do after getting this code error. Is there a link with a step to step guide I can follow?

Thanks

Did you see if you could still boot AID to reinstall the dash?

If you cant boot any disk at all you might need a chip or eeprom reader to get it running.

UPDATE

Xbox would not start and gave me the same error code when I started without the AID CD.

Question,

Can I just connect the HD onto a chip modded Xbox and format as a softmod and then put the HD back in the unmodded Xbox?
