Hey im new a noob at modding and copying games and need some help. I have been struggling for a week or two now trying to make a copy of Fable and have been unsuccesful in all my attempts. I have tried copying the iso of the original game using several different programs and they have all failed. I also copied the original DVD to my HDD using DVD2XBOX which allowed me to open the game but just played the opening credits in a loop and wouldnt go to the start screen. Im not sure what to do next im using EvoX +3921 as my dashboard any help would be great.
Thanks

Not sure if an updated bios will help you or not. You may have to patch the game and then create your .iso. I would look into finding a patch and go that route first.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have never, yet, had to patch a game. I have Fable and Halo2 running off of the HD. The machine I have connected right now is a 1.0 iwth a Xenium Ice flashed with X2 4983.67 bios.
I have never used any other bios' other than M8, or the X2. It just depends on the version I am modding. I have played Halo2 on every machine that I have modded with no issues. I am sure there are games out there that I will need to patch soon, as developers use other forms of encryption and such. Also, I don't even have the latest DVD2Xbox. I have used mainly PxHDD Loader up until now. I have noticed that some newer games like Riddick, Full Spectrum Warrior, and Fable won't play off of a burned disk if I FTP over to my PC. It will read the game title, but won't play right. That is all that I have noticed, and why I switched to using DVD2Xbox, since I switched and used that to rip with, I don't have any problems backing up newer games. I think every xbox no matter if you have them identically modded act differently...it's strange.

I gave PxHDD a shot and it didnt work niether did DVD2Xbox. I've also tried using Qwix to patch an optimized copy of the game and then FTP that across to my Xbox but no success there. I've updated the dashboard to Evox 3935 but that didnt seem to help. A friend who has a backup copy of Fable running of the hardrive of his machine suggested that i might need to change my bios. I have a V1.6 Pal Xbox with a Duox 2 modchip what bios should i install which will work best with this box and chip?

This might be a dumb question, but is your Xbox and the game of the same version (NTSC and/or PAL)?
If so, are your modchip settings (or if you can do it in BIOS, I don't recall) set to the proper mode to view the media?
I always try to think of the simpler solutions before getting all complicated...

Both the game and the Video standard settings are pal. I also noticed that on the dashboard in the space that says 'Bios' it says Unknown, is this normal or is this a sign that its time for a bios change?

I think my BIOS still says unknown. That can't be the issue that's giving you problems.
I'm not too experienced with ripping DVDs, since I still use the stock HDD and don't have the room to transfer all my games over yet.
I think there's something you have to do to make the game load from the HDD and not the DVD. Sorta like a NO-CD hack for PC games.
Do you have any experience with Hex editting? (I don't)

Just did a little bit of research for you and found some useful stuff:
-Make sure you enable ACL processing. What this does basically is run a script to try different media check patches. If one doesn't work, it'll try the next one. If that one doesn't work, the next one, etc.
See if that works and let me know.

quick question, do you have a mod chip or a tsop flash? most mod chips support the "no patch hack 1&2" and this allows you to play a backed up copy of a game from your hdd or from a disc. however, tsop flashes, more comonly refered to as soft mods, dont. this means you would have to find a patch for most games in order to allow them to be played via back up. in this case i would advise you to seek a modchip, that way you wouldn't have to worry about this problem. _________________ XBOX360

Thanks Slick unfortunatley i know nothing about hex editing, i had a look around the system settings for something about ACL proccessing and couldnt find anything. Where might i find the options that allow me to enable ACL processing?

Load up dvd2xbox (mine is version 0.6.0) and press the white button. Scroll down to where it says "Enable ACL processing" and make sure it says Yes. Back to the main menu, copy the game to your games directory, and try running it.
If it doesn't work, check to see if you have the current version of dvd2xbox (0.6.1 is the newest I think exists, but 0.6.0 is fine and available from this site).
Make sure when you're copying it you chose the option with the A button and not the X button. The A button modifies it to play off the HDD. The X button makes an exact copy of the disc.
Try this, and if it STILL doesn't work, let me know.
