i'm i reading it right to put it in a nut shell first unlock the drive than RESTORE YOUR C:\ DRIVE? will that make it so i can format it ntfs so windows can recognize it?
ok,
you have a working xbox and a knackered 500gb harddrive that you tried to upgrade to using chimp ?
ftp into your working xbox and get your eeprom backup
get xbhdm and unpack it, add your eeprom to the eeprom folder, click on the `make iso win bat` to create your floppy image (forget the other stuff from your xbox like c: & e: - you arnt making a harddrive, just unlocking the one locked with your eeprom)
connect your 500gb to your pc as master
boot the xbhdm floppy and select option 3 `boot to dos with hd unlock`
click the `try to unlock hd option`
once thats done thats it, your done, re-assemble your PC and stick your unlocked harddrive in as slave or in a usb caddy and try to use windows to format it. _________________

ua when you said make floopy did u mean floopy or cd? i tryed cd but my system dident reconise it. did u mean floopy?
when you click the `make iso win bat` it creates an iso image, burn this to CD the way you would if burning AID, make sure your PC is set to boot from CD (you might have to enable this in your bios). _________________

You can use this program on your computer to unlock the HDD. You will have to pay for it and it will erase all of the info on your HDD. If you can't get anything else to work look into this:http://www.hddunlock.com/ _________________

thanks for the idea but i figured it out. now that i know it was so simple i feal stupid. all i had to do was launch UnleashX go into settings select hdd n select unlock, after i unlocked it all i had to do is format it in NTFS (windows woodent read the file system of the drive) but all i had to do was unplug my master hdd in my computer hook up my 500gig drive n fire up the windows xp setup disk n it formatted it. it just took around 2 hrs.
