I have a soft modded crystal 1.6 xbox.
Spent ages looking at different tut's all over the place.
I had a spare pc hard drive but came unstuck when found my pc hasn't got ide cable connections so then read about this chimp solution.
Sounds just what I'm looking for.
Havent bought the new HD yet but shouldn't be a problem.
I have ftp'd my xbox several times so thats cool but when I read about this chimp thing it starts on about telnet....?
This is when i start to get lost.any help with explaining this would be appreciated.

Here, Telneting is basically controlling the Xbox with your PC using a network, prefferably (IMO) with a Crossover cable so that it's easier to set up. You have to telnet simply because 1.6 Xbox's will not display the application properly.

Just couple of questions,
How do i get the chimp prog on application folder in xbox,tried ftping it but can't find folder to put in in.
Am I going about this the wrong way?

You can install Chimp straight from the AID disc if you want to do it that way. Otherwise just make your own folder and FTP it over into it. Somewhere like F:\Apps\Chimp is always a good place.

I've searched my xbox through ftp and haven't got a Apps folder.
Is this normal?
The ftp program doesn't seem to want me to make one either.I have got a different ftp program that I haven't used that might do the trick.Will it work if i just invent a apps folder.
On the xbox screen I have one with text editor in it,so surely it must be somewhere when ftping?
Any help please.

The text editor is a script of sorts but to make an APP folder just install chimp using the AID disk.
