I stumbled on a DIY wifi antenna they call a "cantenna" which is made from a pringles or coffee can. It improves signal, I want to make one just to see if i can, but there pictures arent the best. anyone here have one? also i bought the "bigger, better" antenna's for my Linksys so I have the old ones to spare.. that saves $ on connetors ect.. but also im wonderingh if i could totally encorporate the old "smaller" antenna inside the coffee can. any pic's, comments etc, welcome...

yeaqh i saw those, i got a book on that stuff, ill have to make a page of it for ya. als oyou do know the cantennas are directional, so it will only cover the area you point it in. and it also creates a form of microwave signals, liek you home microwave, and radar systems used by the military. so dont amp it to much ,or you will fry you skin, lol. i made one that i could cook a hot dog in.

all i did was amp my router to 250mw, and added a 25 db cantenna i made to the mix.

supposible the wrt54gs on channel 11 can put out 175mw without a firmware mod.. well mines on channel 11... well see. i know its directional, what im doing now is hacking into my "Q87-WPC54QV12" wireless card and i found a pic to add an external antenna, but the solderpoints are like a D0 point.. and i have a 15watt solder iron, but im not the best at soldering, and when im soldering to this, does the size of wire matter? its a tiny point.. and i want to put a cantenna to my card.. so i can point and shoot to get a signal..

I would suggest you would use a "Biquad" antenna Can easily be made from solid core copper wire and some reflector of some sort i used electrical board one that is not etched just blank I dissapprove the cantenna because they are quite hard to setup and calibrate

Try this link http://martybugs.net/wireless/biquad/
