Ok I bought a couple of light guns recently, and they work fine on xbox games, but i can't seem to get them to work with the NES SNES SEGA SMS or MAME. Can anyone help me to figure out how to configure them so that i can play the shooter games with my new guns?

Are you sure that those emulators are actually built/programmed/compatible with light guns? Don't forget that the Xbox controller has been programmed and mapped to match the control pad of the emulated system. It may well be that light guns just aren't supported.

foe nes,snes and sega master system you should be able to turn lightgun suppot off/on in the options menu,just make sure you have the newest versions.
for mame if you want to use lighguns then either mameox0.843b,mameox 128 plus or bendermameox should let you use your guns.
