By The way, is there any type or to just load up some kinda emulator or VMWare or something & just transfer stuff directly from 1 drive to another using my PC?
That would be so much faster...
You could just FTP all the original HDD info from the xbox to your PC, use xboxHDM to build the new HDD and then softmod it.
Then all you got left to do is FTP the info from your PC to the new HDD.

Indeed that is an alternative way of doing it. Telnetting always causes no end of problems, but providing you can FTP, a simple backup and XboxHDM rebuild should sort you as well.
Are you familiar with XboxHDM? Any update on the crossover cable?
Ya, I have xboxhd, thats what I use to make all my drives.
Wait, OMG, isnt there a clone HDD option in that?
I gota go check, im pretty sure there is...
I know I can FTP the stuff, but it just takes 2 days for 300 - 400 Gigs to XFer accross FTP, And I know if I could just copy from drive to drive it would only be a few hours at most.
Plus, when I FTP it all, I ussually end up having problems with a few games not working or end up with some wierd folder names that cant be deleted unless I do it with the AID filemanager
Folder names like ñ₧ or ë or just any other wierd non standard characters.
I have set my CuteFTP Pro to 1 File at a time
& have changed my Partitions to 123Gb on F & the remainder on G and am FTPing the files over right now
The FTP has been going for 27 Hours and is almost half done...
LoL, so thats why I want a faster way of doing it...
Ya ya, I have a lot of games, about 200 XBox & every freeking emul8r I could find, I probly have about 20,000 games in all on this new 500 Gb box
If I have room, im guna load my MP3s on it too & maybe a couple movies.
anyways, so I cant check the cross over till I can pause the FTP Transfer.

I know, But I am Supost to play games with the XBox, Not the other way around!!!
I hate it when they play games with me!
Well the good news, My XFer finished!
I XFerd 350Gb of games & it looks like everthing went over fine.
So for some reason, the problem with FTPing the files was the F drive
I made a 123Gb Partition for F and the rest on G and I sent all the games to G & only the emulators to F.
Of course I still need to be able to do this faster, so my issue remains.
But at least this box is almost done
I will continue trying the Chimp thing ina few hours.
Thanks,
-Becca

What program did you say you're using to FTP Becca?
A lot of here use FlashFXP, as it has an option to turn passive mode off, greatly increasing the speed of the transfer. Also, its worth noting, one big file would transfer faster than loads of little ones, as it tends to pause between each file.

Let us know the results of your crossover link.

I use Cute FTP 8.0 Pro.
Passive mode?
I dont know what that is, I will look for Flash FXP, I know i used to have it.
As for the 1 Big file Vs many little files, what is there another way?
I know that many little files take Crazy Long to transfer, thats why my 20,000 Roms take several hours even though its only about 30Gb for all
Im Checking Cross Over Now...

With passive mode turned off, you'll find that transfer speeds seem to pick up a bit. It took me a while to realise here, but after I did, things moved a bit quicker!
I'm not sure where that option would be inside CuteFTP, but if you do have FlashFXP, just yell and I can direct you straight to it. You may find it'll help.
Unfortunately, if you're FTP'ing back and forth, you have no choice but to transfer every little file on there.
The Avalaunch dashboard (its on the AID disk) has its own FTP client, making it possible to connect 2 xbox`s via a hub/router and transfer the contents of 1 xbox to the other without the use of a PC. It maybe worth checking it out. _________________

Thanks, I think its fun!
My ex BF got me hooked playing Sims 2 on the XBox & then I started playing other stuff with him and his friends cause he had a few modded boxs.
So I used to watch him do it & it seemed pretty easy, so when we broke up & he wouldnt let me take "My XBox" with me I started doing it myself...
I went to craigslist & got 3 xboxs for like $200 total & went to it...
Its not that hard & now I have way more stuff then him anyways so its all good!!!
Ok, so on to my current project.
FinalCloud, I am going to pickup a 2003 Box in a few minutes, so hopefully I hear back from you before I start doing this.
I am wanting to take my drive out of my 1.6 and do the following,
1) Softmod the Original Drive of the 2003 Box, which should not be a 1.6 by my understanding
2) Start up Chimp
3) Pull the Original drive & DVD drive out
4) Put a New 500 Gig in as Master & put my 320Gig in as the SLAVE
5) CLONE it Baby!!!
6) Lock down the 500 using the Motherboard option in Chimp
7) Restart and NOT have a Brick
LoL, Sound good?
Oh Ya, does Chimp let you choose the Partitioning or is it just Clone?
Cause I should probly make a G drive on the 500gb to avoid posible problems...
Thanks,

Becca,
The process you've listed above sounds just fine and if you stick to that and refer to the guide, you should find this one goes much better than the attempted 1.6.
As for Chimp itself, no, it doesn't have a partitioning option. Just clone. If you wanted to work on resizing/moving partitions etc, I recommend using the XBpartitioner program, which can be found on the AID disc or via the downloads section. That should cater for your needs.
Oh and by the sounds of it, I think your ex was a bit jealous.

Ya, He was actually Very Jealous, in many ways about many things...
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
So I Ended up leaving the original drive in and trying to clone it,
After about 10 minuts it went to a black screen with an error, I didnt right the error down, but I imagine its from trying to clone a 8gb 2 partition original drive to a 500 Gig.
So im guna just go about this the normal way & build the drive & then try doing the xbox to xbox ftp and see how that works out...
im considering keeping this 1.2/1.3 box for myself & getting rid of my 1.6

In many ways, the older boxes give less problems and errors when it comes to things like cloning, partitioning etc. You tend to get a few more incompatibility issues with the 1.6 model, especially with chimp.
Sounds like you're much better off without him anyway.
