Ok, i finally got my files onto the Xbox only to have it freeze up everytime I selected Install Linux or Emergency Linux. Only afterwards do I find mine is a v1.6 which makes modding a bit more difficult.
What's the best and easiest softmod procedure for the V1.6 Xbox?

1.6 will softmod the same as any other xbox, you did put the save file and sid installer on the xbox right?

Save files, yes. SID no. THere lies my problem.

I also have a 1.6 and the AID disk is the cats pajamas. It auto boots and does a 1 click softmod it has all of the tools for xbox , pc , dashboards , the works. It has brought me back from error 21 , freezing screens, the works lol ..

I have the AID disk but I haven't actually used it yet. Looks like I'd better take a look at it tonight. Thanks guys!

Well bro you need the sid5 installer on the HDD with the save file exploit so get that on there so you save file has something to boot up.
You need to be softmodded or chipped to run AID.

I was under the impression you used a mem card, some flash drives (aka thumb drives) have been known to corrupt the data.

LOL! It's a gorgon/medusa hat. I was playing around with my kids at the costume shop a couple of years ago.
Back on topic: I checked and I do have the SID installer on the Xbox. It still freezes when I click on Install Linux.

Remove and reinstall the hacked save files, make sure the hack save is the only save for the game you are using to mod.
Your pin drive might have currupted the saves.

Also you have to make sure its the only save file for the game. If you have another save file for the game it will not work right most of the time. _________________

No other save files are present. I cleaned all of them off before I started.
I just bought an Action Replay on Amazon so when it comes in I'll start from scratch and see what happens. I'll post an update at that time.

Success comes in the form of an Action Replay and a clean install of saves. I think I had too many hacked saves on it last time. This time I only used the Ndure udata.zip file and it worked! Got the eeprom backed up and the softmod installed. Tonight I hope to drop the AID disc in and finish everything up.
Appreciate all the advice and help everyone's given me!
