Hey all!
I got the Tiger Woods 07 game disc, but it is PAL.
I couldn't get it to play. I ripped it to the HD and tried running it through XBMC.
Now it will run in PAL/60, PAL, and NTSC-M mode, as set by XBMC. However, it's in black and white and looks like crap.
Ive tried all the other launch settings. I tried setting it in the main system settings in XBMC, as well as trying it by selecting the game file, hitting the white button for advanced options, and every possible combination of the above.
I have searched this forum and others, and the final analysis I can find is that unless I have a PAL capable TV, it won't play the game correctly.
As I understand it:
1. XBMC will output a PAL signal.
2. But the TV needs to be PAL compatible.
3. Because XBMC is not converting the signal to NTSC, it is simply running the XBOX in PAL.
Is this correct?
I was just talking to my friend who got me into this, who has a HARDMODDED xbox. He said that he has no problem playing any PAL games, and he does not have a PAL tv.
Does a modchip do that? Or is there something I can do as well?
Does the Enigma video changer do anything different? Ive read that's a shaky program that could brick my XBOX.
Thanks for the help!

DO NOT USE ENGIMA VIDEO CHANGER! That will cause your whole screen to be black. Then you would have to try to find out how to change it back to NTSC without seeing anything (its hard).
As for hardmods with pal games i dont really know. I've only played one PAL game on my xbox and it was hard modded with a x3 ce. It worked fine. Softmods may not work well with PAL games, or you might have to buy a special cable to be able to play it on your tv. You may want to wait till wes gets in here, he probably knows more about this than i do. _________________

Why would the video changer cause your screen to go black? I've used it on several boxes and even run it on mine (all of which are softmodded btw, as I don't use modchips) and it has worked perfectly each time. Most dash's should auto detect and switch anyway, but I don't see why EVC would cause such probs?!?
Ok, to clear a few things up. You're tv does not need to be PAL compatible. I can quite happily play NTSC games on my PAL tv here in the UK with no problem at all. Wouldn't even know the difference. XBMC will output the game in whatever format it is. So if your game is NTSC, thats what it goes out at. If its PAL, then that is what XBMC puts out.

Video changer will cause screen to go black because if you change the video format from NTSC to PAL on the xbox itself you will end up with a black screen. In my past year or so here ive seen about 3 people so far that have been screwing around with the video changer and changed the video mode to PAL. Then they had to try and remember how many up/down and such it took to get back to change the video back to NTSC. _________________

i had a similar problem on a portable dvd player that i plugged into the xbox, i was playing a PAL game on a PAL xbox (no mods). I think it does that sometimes on some tv's, try it on another similar tv. _________________ My Xboxes >>> http://uk.youtube.com/profile?user=XBMCXBOX <<<

Final, Im not sure I understand your last line. If XBMC outputs the format of the game, and it puts out PAL, why wouldn't I need a PAL tv?
Maybe that's not even important. Do you, or anyone, have advice on how I could get this game to work? Maybe there's a setting Im doing wrong. In my first post I detailed the process.
Thanks everyone for the replies so far.
