I have a v1.6 ntsc xbox 200gb hd, never had a problem with my AID3.11 install, but now I'm trying to update to 4.13 DCHP and a weird thing is happening.
First off, this xbox was working, and I haven't flashed the chip.
1)When I do a format/prepare hdd I noticed there wasn't an option for larger hdd, just regular and large. Does this mean the new formatting overrides the 132gb limit? I notice for all other dash install's it asks this option.
2) After formatting the drive, i've done three different things, one is installing the new ms dash, then one click install for mod chip with evo-x dash, tried it with xbmc, and both boot the chip bios, the kicks to blue screen of death, then to factory dash with 05 error(my hard drive isn't locked just incase, don't play live either). So I formatted again, just did one click install and same thing, so I did it the long way, once with installing the ms dash first, once without, and tried both dashboards again.
Any ideas where I'm going wrong, never had this happen to me until now. Put in one of my other unlocked drives that are modded and no problems, so I know it's just the install.
Thanks.

duo x3, like I said, never had a problem with it with previous versions of AID. It's nice because of the dual BIOS, once for the hacked BIOS, switch over to the cromwell bios. It works well with AID 3.1 (had another unlocked HD with it installed, and the 200gb had that install as well.

Well ,after some more installing and formatting, here's what I have come up with. If I install ms5960 dash on C: , I get error 05, if I put evox on E: ,then the MS dash boots??? So I re-formatted 3 times just to make sure then I did one click install for unleashx, and all is well. So here's my theory. For some reason, when I put evox or xbmc as my dash, it's not changing the filepath in the .xbe on C: , and making a mess of things 'cuz it does not know which dash to boot. I don't know really. How about a place for me to look with file explorer on the AID disk and I'll take a look for what's needed to be known. This is only a play around xbox for times like this, before I hand the disk off to a couple of friends so they can do their xbox. I'm the tester so to speak Razz
Thanks, and hopefully this will help out with another update if needed (probably not 'cuz this is just my luck)

Any ideas wes or djb....doesn't have to be just you two Smile I'm more than willing to help out, been doing this stuff for, well about 6 months before I registered on this site, and very few things have stumped me, but this one has. Going to try to make an ISO with static IP, and see what happens.
Thanks

The xbox is set to look for the xbe files in an order like first it will look for evox.xbe then ava.xbe and so on till last it looks for xboxdash.xbe

You get the error 5 when its booting to MS dash since your hdd is not locked.

So your big prob is when you install xbmc and evox both useing the modchip install the xbe file of the second dash you install over rides the first dash.xbe

If you want to use more then one dash install your main dash with the chip dash installer, install anyother dashes as an app and use X-select to switch the dash at boot up.

There is a file explorer on the aid disk some where, in advanced tools menu or something similar. You could take a peek at your C drive and see whats going on.

The boot priority is dependent upon your bios, and most hacked bios look for ms dash last. Try using the file explorer to put xbmc.xbe (and necessary program folders) in the root of c drive. (or whatever dash you want)

What bios are you using? Did you modify it before flashing?

didn't mod the bios before flashing, and here's my update(2am is starting to get late to playing with this stuff Smile
I locked the hd, I know the passkey cuz I use configmagic to unlock and lock all my drives.
Definitly goes straight to ms dash. Used file explorer and the .xbe is there for evox, just haven't checked to see where the file path goes yet. I did a static install, same thing. Now the messed up part, I did a lite install and any dash I wanted will install. I'm going to take the drive and swap it into a v1.1 xbox and see what happens, I'm really beginning to think it's the hacked flash on the chip that's sending it back to ms dash. oh ya, and i'll unlock the drive before I swap it.
Here's the question of the day. Because I use power/eject to boot up the hacked flash, do you think this might be a confict with the new AID. I haven't used xecuter or smartxx chips, so I don't know how they boot up on ver1.6 boxes.
Thanks

Aid is only a tool for installing dashboards, apps, emus, etc. It does nothing to change how the xbox responds to the press of eject or power buttons. Although SID (softmod installer deluxe) will give you the option for how your eject button will act.

If you have a modchip, you will not need to worry about the SID scenario, and therefor, the modchip should act as it should with long press, short press, eject, power, etc.

no softmod, just the chip. Just wanted to check to see if my bios might have been the interference in comparison to the well known bios flashes/chips on the market, Thanks for the reply, and I'll get back to all when I swap the drive over to my other xbox to see if it is only my ver1.6 bios, or the install itself.

ok, so here's the update. After slapping together my v1.1 xbox with the same dvd drive and 200gb hd, all went well, no problems with any of the installs. I put my test hd into the v1.6, and screwed up things are happening. I think what is happening is one of the memory chips are starting to fail, or the cache is not being wiped out on restart. The reason I say this is when the problems are happening, if I unplug the xbox, hold the power button down for 10 secs to discharge the caps and all, and restart, it boots up fine, but by the third time I restart all the problems come back(not finding dash, no bios hd not lock when it was etc.) So thanks to all for your help, and I hope this helps out others with similar problems.
Delta
