I have a V1.0 with a dead drive.
I already have the BIN file from the eprom.
I would like to know if I can softmod this think with a new 40GB drive.
I seached the forums but there is no mention of doing a softmod without the c: and E: backups.
Can I get the files for C: and E: from the "SlaYers_EvoX_Auto-Installer_v2.6FINAL" DVD that I have or from another DVD or CD?
Or do I just bit the bullet and get a mod chip?
Thanks

Welcome to the HQ and we hope you enjoy the site.
If you got the eeprom then you can just build the drive with xboxhdm 1.9 with the files from slayers or aid.
If you wold like i can try to dig up the guide for you if you need it.

No prob man i happen to be doing the same right now with my bros hdd.
Just download xboxhdm here: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/download-file-1138.html
The readme, how to, and tutorial files that come with it will tell you all you need to know on how to build your stock drive with the eeprom .bin you have backed up.
Good luck man.

If that’s the files that go on the c: and E: partitions then yes, But I found the fills on another disc.
The disk is called "XBMC and DVD2xbox Linux boot".
I downloaded it from the net just after I posted.
Followed the instructions from the stuff I got through you and it works like new.
The box is back to OEM dashboard but that’s OK because now I can do the softmod the easy way.
Thanks bud for all your help....
Later….
