Hi
I am trying to fix my mates Xbox, unfortunately his harddrive is broken and as I have no eeprom i cannot use xboxhd to set up a new drive.
I have softmodded many xbox's but I am stuck with this, can you tell me if I install an Executer 2.6CE will I be able to install a new harddrive, I was thinking of using a no solder one so I could reuse it at a later date.
Thanks In Advance _________________ Xbox Version 1.6b

Sure thing man, i use the 2.6 ce and love the things.
Get that chip and pop it in and you can use that to get the eeprom off his xbox and in to xboxhdm with no probs.
The one thing that might catch up to you wold be useing the solderless pin header over and over might ware the little DO wire off it real fast.

If hes putting a solderless chip into just for a bit do this:
Put a new hard drive into the xbox, it will now boot the unlocked hard drive. Then burn AID to a disk and pop it in. Partion the new drive out and Install the ms dash and evox so you can get a backup of the eeprom. Then get a backup of the xboxes eeprom. Lock the new hard drive in AID and use the file explorer to get rid of the hacked dash because it wont work with a softmod. Then take the chip out and the new hard drive will be able to boot because its locked. Then softmod the box again and your ready to go without xboxhdm. _________________

Wow that sounds suspiciously like one of Wes's old post. Well you know what they say...copying something word for word is the biggest form of flattery.
