Hi there, back again.

Finally took the plunge today and tried to put a bigger hard drive in my xbox, following the tutorial from here. I didn't see any error messages while it was formatting and partitioning my new HDD (Hitachi(IC35L120AVV207-0) 123.5 GB) but now when I start up my xbox I get that Error 06.

Any thoughts? What's gone wrong?

It cant unlock the hdd so you may have the eeprom in the wrong place or may have just typed it in wrong.
You cold try formating the hdd and useing the chimp guide to add the new hdd.
Heres that guide if you want to try it: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-260.html

Good luck man. Very Happy

Wes, you never cease to amaze me with you quickly you reply!

Which .bin am I supposed to put in the EEPROM folder? HDDkey.bin or eeprom.bin? Seems obvious, but I just thought i'd check - as last time I put the whole eeprom folder in the xboxhdm eeprom folder, was that the right thing to do, or could that be the source of error?

Just copying everything over now fresh, and re-downloading xboxhdm ( just in case there were any corrupt files or anything...)

Ok, got a load of errors this time which looked like errors reading the HDD (on xboxhdm, this is) whilst it was booting from the cd. It continued to boot though, but any of the menu options (1-Cool all gave an "invalid selection" error (or something similar).

Tried with a different hard drive and didn't get that same error; so I'm wondering what's up with this HDD now as it was working fine a moment ago.

This HDD originally was NTFS, would that make a difference?

Just thought I'd inspect that HDD with a IDE>USB interface, and it doesn't show up in Windows Explorer or in Disk Management. Has this hard drive just broken while I was doing this? Running out of ideas...

#Edit just to save me tripple-posting: If I go for the Chimp method, both HDD's don't have to be the same size do they? One guide on HDD cloning I read said that they do, which isn't much good to me (as I'm trying to install a bigger hard drive)

xboxhdm will format the HDD to fatx

No, for CHIMP both HDDs don't have to be the same size
