Hey all, just figured I would share a little experiment that I would love to try.
I am going to order an Xtender and install it on a brand new never logged into XBL machine. I am going to keep one of the HD's stock and sign up to XBL with that machine. I am going to install larger HD's for the other drives.
If I understand the way the Xtender works is, when you boot up the machine you press a particular button to specify which HD you want to boot with. If the modchip is cloaked and you are booting with the stock HD intact should this be an okay solution?
If so, I'm buying stock in the company that makes the Xtenders...lol!

I'm doing the same thing, except poor man's way, just extending the ide/power cords to hang out the back of the hdd, ugly, but should work.
The theory that most people are buying into right now is the marriage theory. It covers every circumstance that people got banned. Basically what happens is that the hdd you have the first time you log onto live is "Married" to your eeprom. If you change your HDD after that, BAM, banned. If you modded your xbox/changed your hdd after you had already been on live, thats what most likely happens. If you were modded before you logged on to XBL, your modded HDD is what is logged which is why some aren't getting banned.
Supoosedly they're coming up with a way to actually edit the EEPROM so you can change the information in it, instead of reflashing with a new one. THere's a video over on xbox-scene, and here's the link to that thread.
In that forum, in the first post, there is a link to a video showing some neat stuff that I'm not 100% I understood, but its an idea.
Anyway, to answer your post, yeah it should work as long as yuo don't mix and match the two hdd's after you logged onto live.
Take it easy. _________________ Xenium (thanks Porche)

Yeah, I heard something about the marriage theory on www.how2xbox.com. they give you a tutorial on how to install twin harddrives.

yeah evrything should work fine...i know guys who are playing on xbl with 200gb hdd. this is possible because the eeprom is married to the 200gb hdd key. they have their chips off of course and boot to the ms dash.
So which ever hdd you decide to use for xbl... the hdd key will be married to the eeprom. and if you want to use a new or different hdd for xbl youll just need to get a new eeprom to marry to the new hdd key. _________________ [RIP Radio]

I just want to let you all know a few things about the marrage theory that I've run into. First off, I have my degree in programming and IT, and I've modded xboxes for a while now. However, here is what I have found. As of today, 4/7/2005, I've bought 10 NEW IN THE BOX Xboxes from a variety of places like Best Buy, Target, SAM'S Club and Wal Mart. All were BRAND NEW, SEALED IN THE BOX. I modded all of them for the store that I own, because we game in the back of the store. I put the Xecutor 3 mod chip in, with the latest BIOS, a 120 gb HDD in all, and I installed the UIX dashboard seeing as I can't get THC Lite to boot off of the F partition. I don't install anything "Hacked" onto any of the C or E partitions, and follow the marrage theory to the letter. All I have to say is that 4 of my boxes have been banned so far now. And to answer the question that you are all thinking, no I didn't use the same account on all 4 boxes. Everytime a box would get banned, I would cancle the xbox live account associated with that box, seeing as I have a bunch of free 2 month cards, so I really didn't care about the account anyways. I also have a buddy that I modded his xbox about a year back now, and he just recently got banned, and I followed the marrage theory exactly also, and he just got banned 4 days ago. SO TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE, BEWARE! I THINK MSFT IS CHECKING A BIT DEEPER NOW INTO YOUR BOX, AND I SUGGEST PUTTING AN EXTENDER OR SIMILAR ITEM IN YOUR BOX SO YOU CAN DUAL BOOT HDDS. I have a buddy that modded his box and used an extender, so everytime he goes onto xbox live he boots up the stock hdd and has the mod chip off, using the stock xbox hdd. I really feel that this is an unfortunate step to the xbox modding community, and I have many issues with what MSFT is doing to the people that are modding their boxes. But this is for another forum. If any of you have any questions, you can email me at dan.white03@comcast.net or post them here and I would be happy to help you. And I want to give a big thanks to everyone here for all of your help in the past.
