I did something so dumb I really don't want to post it, but I need help. I was upgrading the HDD on a softmodded Xbox last night and used my chipped xbox to put the key in and lock the harddrive. Well I am dumb for now I can't boot up my chipped xbox....I think I have changed my chipped eeprom and I don't have the back-up of what it used to be. So I have a locked drive and know what the password is for unlocking it, but can't get it to boot on any xbox (lol changed the mobo eeprom).
So I was thinking oh put the little stock one in my mobo and do the same steps for the softmod upgrade...but I don't have the back-up. How can I go about unlocking my harddrive? I don't want to lose any data just unlock my drive and make my xbox work again, I used config magic (sp?) so the password is the same for each. Please help thank you. _________________ The mighty V6 Passat came to chew bubble gum and kick%^* and shes all out of bubble gum!

Well if you have your stock HD and it boots you could get the eeprom off of it and use the hotswap method on the HD thats had the eeprom changed and use xboxhdm to update the eeprom on it. _________________

I do not want to softmod my chip xbox. I have the chipped xbox hdd, but I seem to have changed my mobo eeprom. The softmodded xbox works great. _________________ The mighty V6 Passat came to chew bubble gum and kick%^* and shes all out of bubble gum!

If you softmod the stock HDD you can get the eeprom and use xboxhdm rto fix it. O wes its not that you have been here longer as I said I didn't submit mine till after you, I had it typed and hit submit but it didn't go through the first time and I didn't notice till couple minutes later. _________________

Ok I don't see that working...Xbox 1 is chipped with a WD HDD that was lcoked to it. I toke the WD HDD out and then put the HDD (2) into my xbox (1). I then use confic magic to change and lock the eeprom, so when I did that I changed my eeprom on the chipped xbox. I never backed it up so it won't boot with the WD HDD that was in the chipped xbox. It will not boot the WD HDD because the mobo eeprom has been changed to the new softmodded xbox. _________________ The mighty V6 Passat came to chew bubble gum and kick%^* and shes all out of bubble gum!

You should be able to enter your master password into xboxhdm to unlock it if I remember correctly, then get the softmoded box and get the eeprom off of it then use xboxhdm to lock it with the softmodded boxes eeprom. _________________

Ok but if I am chipped the eeprom doesn't matter right? The only thing I have to do is unlock the WD HDD and the chipped xbox will read any unlocked HDD. I don't go on live at all, but still do have the back-up files for the softmodded xbox. _________________ The mighty V6 Passat came to chew bubble gum and kick%^* and shes all out of bubble gum!

HDD Unlock/Lock/Disable might work out for you if you have the password heres the read me from this app.
To do:
- Unlock and Disable in one program
- Check if the compare was succesful
Usage:
To get your password with EvoX you have to choose "Backup" in the Mainmenu. Now you should find a folder called "Backup"
on drive c: of your xbox. There is a file called "hddinfo.txt" which holds your xbox hdd password (HDD Key).
Write down your password (you do not need the last 00's)
Now you have to boot DOS (Bootdisk).
Use hdunlock.exe to unlock the hdd. (There is no check if the hdd was unlocked successfully. So check with atapwd to be sure...)
Use hddisabl.exe to disable the security mode. Else the HDD will be locked again after a system reset.
imh0 (Imh0tep@forpresident.com)
If you have the password you can skip the first few steps.

Yeah you can just leave it unlocked since its chipped and you don't go on live. The program wes is talkin about is prolly your best option since you have the password. I would still fix the eeprom issue though that way if you ever decide to go on live or sell the box to someone who wants to go on live it will be able to, but thats just me. _________________

He asked so I answered and told him what I'd do, I mean while you're at it you may as well fix it all right. _________________
