Alright tired of the old M$ dash and I was wondering if I could just replace it w/ another dash such as U.I.X., neXgen, or Blackstorm X etc.. I've heard of it bein done but I wanna know how safe it is to do it and if I just replace the dash or what I have to do to make it work. _________________

If your xbox is modded why are you useing the ms dash at all?
And if your chipped you can put what ever you want on it, thats the best part of a chip i havent even had my hdd locked since i got it.

Yeah the Xbox I wanna do it to is softmodded. I just don't really like the M$ dash and I figured why not replace it with something that looks much better and has a few more features. I already have swapped it out on one of my chipped boxes for u.i.x its just too easy to do somethings when your xbox is chipped. LOL all four HDD's in my one box aren't locked either. _________________

I cant say for sure it wold work on softmod since the softmod needs the msdash.
But if you do it anyway and it works let us know and if it fails, keep in mind its a softmod and it needs msdash.

Yeah if it doesn't work I'll have to pop Splinter Cell in and hope that once I get the M$ dash back it works again. _________________

Thanks man not too worried since even if the C:\ drive completely gone I can still load Splinter Cell and the save to get to RemoteX to fix anything that gets messed up. Not to mention I have everything from my Xbox on an xboxhdm disk ready to reinstall if anything went seriously wrong. _________________

Yeah I made sure after my first Xbox got f**ked to keep a full back up just in case. By far the most important thing I've ever learned about modding. Well maybe not quite but its pretty close. _________________

Good call and i agree but if no one ever tryed we woldent have mods at all.
He has his backups and all that so i say go for it see if you can remake the wheel.

I've accidentally done it!! Didn't blow the whole dash away, but enough to break it. Wouldn't read disks anymore, couldn't boot an auto installer..not fun! I agree Wes, it's a great way to learn is by trying...but try things that will benefit you! If you are sick of the M$ Dash, replace, don't delete it.
