My buddy Jim downloaded a new dashboard chickirox I think is the name of it, and he overwrote the default.xbe and the media files for XBMC and now his Xbox freezes at the Microsoft logo I told him to load up Mechassault to get to the softmod menu and just FTP all the XBMC files back but he erased the linux installer save and the mechassault save. I've heard you can create a boot disc for evox xbmc etc... but I don't know what all should be in the ISO and I'm not sure if this will work to fix his problem. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give w/ this problem. _________________

The main thing is can it still boot a disc?
Backup or a stock game?

Yeah he can still boot OG games but I'm not sure about backups I didn't have him try yet but I can call and have him try if I need to. I'm not positive if he has n e backups anymore though. BTW congrads on the whole admin thing wes. _________________

And i wold try to boot the aid disk if it will boot that he can use it to ftp in and see what he mucked and put it back.

Alright looks like I'm finally gonna have to download AID. I'm guessing it would be ok if I got the light version right?? But b4 I do download it can I just make an EvoX or XBMC boot disk and just use it. I already know what he did to it, when he installed the new dash he overwrote the xbmc's xbe and when he put the media files on it he didnt erase xbmc's and he also left some of the html files and the xbmc config file. Man I just he would of just brought me his box and let me put the dash on. _________________

lol yeah man make a boot disk if you want to, its out of wack now so what can it hurt right.
I guess the lite ver. wold work for this, i have never tryed it.
You might want to think about getting the aid disc any way its just a good tool to have.

As far as I know the lite version is only missing the emus and some of the dashes so I guess it should work. I think I'll try the boot disk first and if doesn't work I guess I'll be going to my brothers to get on his high speed to get AID prolly just get the full vers since I'll be on high speed connection. O man I had to tell someone on here about this. One of my other friends brought me his box a couple days ago cause his C: drive somehow got wiped. I booted up Splinter Cell and FTP'd all the files back and restarted the box and I got error 21 or 13 can't remember but I got them both while I was workin on it, so I booted splinter cell back up and reinstalled the softmod and rebooted everything worked but there is nothing in C: . Somehow it magically disappeared again, and it says theres 0.9mb taken up of the 500mb origianally available on C. I just dont understand how his box can possibly work without anything in the C drive . I just had to tell someone about it cause it was drivin me straight f***in crazy tryin to figure out how its workin. _________________

Sound like you got your plan now so go rip it up, as for the xbox with no C thats odd but not too out there.
I have seen softmods that have no ms dash at all, and one that i looked at (he woldent let me poke around at it) but from what i can tell was one big drive.
I saw no C, F, E,G, nothing, Just had folders and the dvd drive.
Oh well if it works but i dont ever want to work on it.

Yeah that box also now has no M$ dash and I told him never to let anyone else touch the box in case they ever went to the wrong thing and messed it up more and to never try to go to the M$ dash just in case. I had a box about two years ago that had an HD set up as one big drive no partitions only folders and the files. I dont know who did it but it was like that when the guy I got it from bought it. It was kinda unstable, it would crash sometimes or just not boot up, but it was great cause you never had to worry if a partition was big enough to fit something on it. BTW any idea why there is .9 mb taken up on the C: drive?? I think it might be whats keepin it runnin but theres nothing there. _________________

I have no idea man as far as i know theere is no hiden files on an xbox.
my xbox onley tells you haw much space it has left not how much space is on the drive in all.
If its just 9mb gone how do you know it was there in the first place?

If you ever completely wipe out the C: drive it will be 500mb. Thats just how large M$ made that partition and all I had to do was the simple math to find how much was taken as you can w/ every partition. This one w/ a clean C drive is missing 9mb but nothings in the folder I just thought it was odd and wondered why this mem is now used. I just thought I'd ask and see if anyone might know why it happened. BTW if you use the Unleash X dashboard and you create a skin with ReLeashed etc.. you can have it show how much mem is taken on each drive. Just now remembered that so I threw it in since you said your box didn't say how much mem is used. _________________

Not a fan of that dash XBMC or nothing here man.
As for the partition i wasent thing about the fact it was the stok hdd.
Had a long day and i was about dead when i got home.
Who knows man when you get the Xbox info back whare it gose it might start reading right.

which softmod did you use? If you used the virtual C drive softmod i dont think you see anything anyway. The dash files and eeprom are hidden
