Can the DVD remote control even normal xbox games to some degree?
I bought an xbox but the controller is broken so i'm left with just a DVD remote. When i power on the xbox it takes me to the screen where i set up the time, i've tried to set the time etc using just the dvd remote but it doesnt respond at all. Should it be responding? I think i might have a faulty remote

You should be able to set your xbox clock with your dvd remote. I do it all the time. Anyhow the dvd remote will work with movies, navigating the dashboard and that is about it. I don't recall it working for any games that I know of. And the dvd remote sucks some serious batteries so try changing those and then try cleaning off the remote reciever and if that doesn't work then yes you have a bad remote. Hope this helps.

Open the xbox and switch port 3 and 4 with Ports 1 and 2 boom works.
controller ports broken.. that stinks.. well since your going to open you XB anyway...Utilize a soldering iron, install some led's to you controller ports. do a 12v fan mod, install a bigger HDD....
And thats the way the cookie crumbles...

Good deal man happy to see its working for you.
You said port 3 dose that mean port 4 works, if so you can order a new set of controle ports for cheap.
Thay dont get used much but if your like me you want it to work even if it dont need to.

yeah port 3 is now the broken one and port 4 works, but i dont use this for anything more than emulation and xbmc
thats a point, what does it mean when NeoGenesis does not respond to controllers?
I start it up, the sonic music plays and the menu is there, but no response at all from controller or dvd remote
