hey i dont know how to flash the bios (sorry guys i am very new at this) and does the lock/unlock hard drive have anything to do with this particular problem? thx

hey xbox is working as a normal xbox would but ,before i had my little problem, my particular machine had a menu that show my games that i downloaded to my hard drive, my region free dvd player, system management, emulators, etc. with a halo 2 special edtion background (REPRESENT). how do i get this menu back? help!

the Spiceguide details how to flash a bios. You must flash a bios before booting your chosen dash which presented the menu you had before. Which dash were you using Unleashx,evox,avalaunch,etc?
FTP into the xbox and have a look around to see if any bios,dash files exist and in what locations

What it sounds like to me is, your initial problem was simply your bios on the mod chip got wiped somehow. I have had many customers have this happen to them.
Once you flash your mod chip all will be well again. It probably wouldn't hurt to update the OS on your chip also. As a matter of fact, I'd probably do that first.
You have a little bit of a learning curve ahead of you, but take it step by step and you will be fine. Remember, the problem right now is on the mod chip, not your HD. Make sure you don't go formatting your HD by accident cuz then you will lose everything on it!!!
You will first need to get your hands on a bios. Then, look at a tutorial on creating a bios disk.
Simply put your bios disk in your machine and then flash the chip.
Spiceguide is a great source to learn what you need to do. Be patient...you'll get it!
