If you have a V1.6 xbox you have to follow a different tut because the screen wont load for some reason. _________________

If the screen goes green when you fire up Chimp, your Xbox is almost certainly a v1.6. Chimp will not run on v1,6 Xbox's due to the video chip not supporting it.

Otherwise, it'll be a matter of using XboxHDM to clone the drive, but it will involve removing the drive from the Xbox.

After some reading and finding, I think you are right about my xbox version . it should be 1.6 .
Had tried the guide for v1.6 xbox , but i can't telnet to the xbox . Give me the error : could not open connection to host on port 23 .
I can ftp to xbox but cannot telnet to it . On the guide say , set IP to anything above 192.168.04 , I set it to 192.168.1.68 is it ok ?
At command prompt , Type telnet 192.168.0.3 . is this an constant IP address ?
Thanks for the advise .

Telnetting is similar to FTP'ing in a way, except you don't have the graphical user interface you get with FTP.
Lets say the IP of your Xbox is: 192.168.1.68 and PC is: 192.168.1.60
Before running telnet, go to the Xbox and fire up Chimp, screen will go green. Leave it like that and head to PC.
At the command prompt, you type: telnet 192.168.1.68 and press Enter.
Enter the username and pass: (username: root Pass: xbox)
NOTE: characters for pass will not appear and it took me a few times for it to work.
You should now be connected. Follow the guide and see how you go. Need anything else, just shout.

Xboxhdm 1.9 tutorial--> http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-153.html you can get it in the downloads section. If you need any help with it just post your problems. The first time can be tricky. _________________

Yeah, we're all here to help so like BG says, sometimes the first time you use XboxHDM it can be a bit confusing and easy to get lost.
