Post subject: Reading XBox ISO files on PC
Reply with quote

Is it possible to read an ISO file (for the XBox) on the computer? I've tried mounting it with Daemon tools and/or Alcohol 120% but it just tells me that it's unreadable (it mounts it, but the contents of the virtual drive (ie: contents of the ISO) are unreadable) ... so I'm assuming it's got a special format similiar to XBox HDs. What program would I need to use to either A) read the contents of the ISO after it's mounted with one of the above mentione programs or B) extract the contents of the ISO file directly.

Also am I correct in assuming that once I can read the files stored in the ISO I can simply FTP them over to the XBox in order to play the game from the HD?

Thanks,
Harry

The Xbox ISO images are differnt from normal ISO's and are called XISO. The PC cannot read this format and even virtual software such as Daemon and Alcohol cannot interpret the format.

There are specific programs available that can extract and create XISO's, but I am unaware of any program that mounts them for reading on the PC.

Your best bet is to searc google using "XISO" and "extract"

Hope that helps.

FC

If you will be FTPing the files to the HDD, why not just rip them onto the drive with DVD2Xbox.

If you don't understand how to extract an xiso, you obviously didn't create that image, which means you downloaded it. Thats piracy my friend, and should not be supported on these forums.
