Post subject: Corrupt Video Display on Retail Games

The video corruption happens when I load a retail bought XBox game. The corruption can best be described as 'the bottom 3/4 of the screen has moved up and the bottom 1/4 filled with black'.

I have just completed my 1st Xecuter X3 installation on a v1.6 successfully. This is not my 1st mod, I have modded 5+ boxes before but using the Xenium 24k Gold not the Xecuter. The only mistake that occurred during the mod was I accidently formatted the original HDD instead of the upgrade HDD. The BIOS is slightly different to the Xenium.

Now, I have replaced the HDD for something slightly bigger, formatted C, E and F. I have flashed the BIOS with X3 build 3294 v16plus and added XBMC as my default dashboard. When switched on, the system boots start to XBMC as you would expect. It plays video clips (.avi), Apple trailers (.mov) and DVD disks without any problem.

I would guess that the retail disks are looking to pull info from the original dashboard, like HALO does in Co-op mode for the screen split, possibly NTSC/PAL info or similar.

Can any one confirm this or give assistance? I have other original HDDs that I can copy the M$ dashboard from if I need to.

Just as suspected. I've re-installed the M$ dashboard. The video settings were set to 'Widescreen' and 'PAL 60 - Yes'. I have now reset these back to 'Normal' and 'PAL 60 - No' and everything is sweet.
Retail games are now viewing correctly !! Very Happy
