Hey guys.
Just thought I'd write this little thread up because a lot of ppl have asked me this, so here it goes.
What is Slayers?
Slayers was one of the first (if not he first) proper installer disc system written for Xbox, consisting of EvoX as it's interface and main dashboard of installation, plus it included a few other small apps (like Avalaunch and Xbox Media Player/Center).
Up until around September 2004 it seemed like the best and most popular way of setting up your Xbox. But unfortunately, after this time it was no longer supported development-wise, and has severly grown outdated because of this.
EDIT: SlaYer is now working on a new version of his installer. Check my my post below for the link.
What is Auto-Installer Deluxe?
Auto-Installer Deluxe was originally released back in December 2004 (version 1.0). The original idea was sparked by X-Disk, which supported multiple dashboard installs. It had a similar idea to Slayers, but instead took a more broad look at what was available software-wise at the time. It allows you to install one of many different Dashboards, and has countless Applications and Emulators to choose from. Now it's currently up to version 3.0, and in that time was grown bigger, and more flexible than any other installer available.
Pros and Cons about Slayers
Pro: Was the innovator of all most installer-disc systems today
Pro: Up to version 2.6 it remained current with vital things (MS Dash etc)
Pro: Fits on a 650mb CD-RW with no problems
Con: Outdated installer system, doesn't have many options
Con: Only 2 Dashboards to install
Con: Hardly any apps, ones exsisting seriously outdated
Con: Supports modchip installs primarily, not real support for Softmods
Pros and Cons about Auto-Installer Deluxe
Pro: Most up-to-date installer there is today
Pro: Lots of Dashboards, Applications, and Emulators to choose from
Pro: Supports BOTH Modchip and Softmod installs
Pro: Kept up-to-date with update packs, released every couple of months
Pro: Plenty of options to choose from
Pro: Standard Core package fits on a 650mb CD-RW
Con: Full package requires a DVD because it goes over 650mb
I've tried to be as honest as I can, if anyone would like to comment on this please do...

sorry to say, but there's no "vs." here.
AID>Slayers.
Points that make AID better than Slayers.
-UnleashX, not evox, and could mean tons of goodies, like unzipping, unrarring, full skin support, smart scripting, etc...
-AID is always updated, Slayers is now Obselete.
So as you can't see, you really can't do a comparison, they are both completely different, but AID has the better software put to use. _________________ Xbox v1.1

Just a small last note:
Slayer is now bringing out a 2.7 of his installer, from what I've heard there's not going to be much change interface-wise, the only difference is that XBMC will be updates and the apps that were originally on there.

I put my Slayer 2.7 disc( 3 times I made) in my trash can period!!
It took me 2-3 hours to download it w/out clue.
With Aid took about 10 minutes!!!!
Somebody here was right NO comparison on it!

Personally, I like using slayers to format my HDD and all because it feels for some reason like its more consistant (individual results vary). However AID seems to just have everything you need after formatting, so it's an easy transfer for me.

And the reason AID was so quick is because you have a vip download (direct download), using a torrent usually is slower.

That is not always true, because if the torrent has a lot of people on it 9which it does at the moment) you can sometimes get it quicker. And BTW, there is no Direct Download of AID 4.01 due to it's size, the only way VIPs could get it quicker would be on the FTP Servers.

Eh, not a VIP member, thought it was Direct, wrong I guess. And I'm proud to be one of the people seeding at a u/l of 50+ kb/s.
Edit: Are you getting 45 people in the swarm seeding? Just curious it's what I see, only like 71 dowloading, nice little ratio.

Speed is all dependin on seed/leech ratio. Most public trackers is goin to be slower because alot of ppl dont share back. Private trackers give you speed because they are held accountable for their ratio and they must seed back.

Hi all,
Just thought Id leave some of my thoughts.. Here goes..
AID is one of the best examples of what a homebrew/modding community can produce.. The AIDeluxe package is certainly miles ahead of any competitor including Slayers and as it shows over and over again the support is their for the future.
AID does everything you could imagine but all without then need to do it manually.. If you take the time to learn all the features you really start to realise what it is.
AID is the most flexible and best out there, but i have big respect for slayers cause it pretty much started it all.
kinda like nintendo started gaming for the most part, now look at sony and microsoft.

@Forahobby
You couldn't have said it any better hehe.
@joho5
Yes I agree, I too have a little respect for Slayers, because if it was never made I wouldn't have thought of making an Auto-Installer myself.
The 4.02 Update pack should be out in a few months, it'll include the new XBMC (as always), new UnleashX, new Zsnesbox, and whatever else is released from now until I release the update pack.
Cheers
