I have my V1.0 xbox now and i want to put in the extra RAM for it even though i may not use it. I have a V1.6 motherboard laying around that i bought to take a part off and fix my V1.6 xbox motherboard. So its laying around, but the man i bought it from said the xbox would power on and the screen would be orange. So im wondering if i can take the RAM chips off the spare V1.6, motherboard, and put them onto the extra spots on my V1.0. Also will the orange screen effect it? _________________

Well technically you can but let me tell you it is not as easy as it look to do it with used ram chips. The hardest part about it is that when you are taking them off the pins get all bent.

It is not the 1.6 board I am worried about. It is your 1.0 that I am worried about because the slightest mistake and you will have a bad 1.0 laying around too.

well if you feel like taking them off your 1.6, I have a nifty trick I used... Take a wire about a foot long, strip all the insulation so your left with a ton of little wires, then feed a single wire under the chip's legs, and gently pull away from the chip as you tap each pin with your soldering iron. It will take a while, but that is the easiest way. I removed 4 ram chips and a tsop using this method.

That sounds simple enough, thanks for the advice. _________________
