My DVD drive has begun skipping DVDs and I'm debating getting a brand new drive to replace it (instead of bothering with the existing one). I was just curious to know what is considered to be the best one to get? I checked out this site:
I've heard that Samsung is supposed to be the best, however, according to the site above, it looks like some of the other options would actually read more media. However, is there more to the drives than just what they read? Are some more reliable (ie: break less often) than others? Cause according to that site a Thomson drive made after 2003 can read quite a lot of media types, however, I've always heard that Thomson is supposed to be one of the worst to have? So I'm just wondering what info I'm missing.
IMO samsung is the best drive. ive a few box's and it reads everything i put in it _________________ Xbox V1.3

my opinion is the LG 8164, way more costly then others, but can read everything and faster.. now they have a solderless conversion, you just have to flash it yourself or buy it pre-flashed and modified right here http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/search.html except its $70 plus shipping, _________________ (2) XBOX v1.4:

I would use Samsung, mine has one and it reads alot and it works great. Thompson is the worst drive as well, and doesn't read many things. _________________
