Hey guys, in the process of softmodding my xbox with SID 3.1
I am following the PDF instructions that came with the package..
I am backing up my C:/ drive and my eeprom...
then i am installing the softmod via NKpatcher
selecting single boot
loading dashboard from c:\evoxdash.ebe
then installing EvoX in C:\ drive
and selecting the PATCH MS dash option
When i re-boot my xbox
it gives me a "your xbox requires service" screen, with a error code of 21 on the top right hand of the screen.
I have removed the mod with SID3.1 and reset everything back..
and the xbox will act normal..
Tried re-doing the softmod, and it does the same thing.
my dashboard version WAS:
A:1.00.4034.01
D:1.00.4920.01
so i read up, ang got HALO 2
and updated the dash (by going to "xbox live") and now it reads
A:1.00.4920.01
D:1.00.5960.01
which is what ive seen is what i want for SID3.1
is there something i am doing wrong? incorrect order? etc.
FYI. im using the splinter cell exploit..

You're steps are correct. As with any softmod install, make sure that only the gamesave exploits are on the hdd.
You may want to use SID 4.5
Besides being the most current, it's a much cleaner install.
Also, if you haven't already, download AID 3.10. That will have all the tools to manage your xbox. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

so your saying to remove the other regular game saves onto my memory card?

Correct. What happens is that the exploit get thrown for a loop when there are other gamesaves (besides the ones used for the exploit) found. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

ok, tried re-doing it with only the SID3.1 and SC gamesave files on there...
Did the same thing.....
is it worth searching for the newer SID package..or is there something wrong??

Try installing the dash to the E: partition.

ok so i used version 4.5 and did the
install softmod
install evolutionx
single boot
(sytem installed)
(asked me to restart the system)
(system restarts)
(i get a window saying that i need to complete the install)
(i complete the install)
it re-starts the machine
now i am getting a screen saying that the system didnt find the .XBE in E:/ (where its looking by default)
and it asks me to install the dash from a backup, still doesnt do anything..
is there anyway to change how SID4.5 (NKnave edition) installs EvoX and make it install into E:/ so that the XBOX finds the .XBE when it looks for it??

get the latest version of aid and read the manual that helped me alot with my mods.if you get error 21 just make a aid disc and pop it in you can reformat your hdd and remod it.
