Could be the cd writer or the media. I know when I used some cheap cd-rw's i couldnt get anything to work. Well it was my friends cd's and xbox, but you get the picture. Also, if its a cheap cd writer, even at slow speeds it could have errors that it doesnt pick up. So first I would try some better cd-rw's, if that doesnt work, try a new cd writer?
Do you by chance have a list of games that will fit on a cd-rw???

Ok lets fix this one for ya mate....!
Just A QuiCK ChecKLisT:
1. Do you have a dashboard (evo-x) installed already onto your xbox?
If you dont then install one.
2. What type of xbox (version) do you have.. There are many different types.. You can tell by the manufacturer date normally..
(Its not recommended to burn isos on CDRW.. My xbox used to do the same thing.. As soon as i bought a DVD-R+r burner everything worked fine.)
3. Do you know how to basically ftp?
Programs needed:
FLASHFXP
Continue if evox installed:
Once you have evo-x installed and a cross-over cable from your xbox to your pc or a hub/switch which your xbox and pc are both connected to you can continue. (cross over only used for direct cable connection from pc network card to xbox network card..)
1. Boot your Pc
2. Give your pc a ip of e.g. 192.168.0.1 and a subnet of 255.255.255.0
3. Boot your xbox with evo-x running.
4. Go into your evox dashboard settings on your xbox and setup your xbox to use STATIC: YES IP: 192.168.0.2 and a subnet of 255.255.255.0.
then scroll down to the bottom and press on SAVE and EXIT
5. Reboot your xbox
6. Open FLashFXP (FTP PROGRAM)
7. Press 'F4' and add a new FTP SITE called e.g. XBOX (EVOX)
8. Put in the relevant details as above. e.g. 192.168.0.2 (XBOX IP).
9. Username = xbox and password = xbox unless you have change the default settings..
10. Thats it.. When you connect you should see 6 drives with your STANDARD XBOX HD or 7 Drives with your upgraded HARD DRIVE (as long as it has been formated)..
All you have to do now is copy all files from the cdrw to your xbox..
I bet thats your problem... It was mine..
some other tips:
go to your command prompt.. WIN2k is START MENU then RUN and type in ' cmd '.
Then all you have to do is type in this command below:
ping 192.168.0.2 and it should return how long it took to get the reply..
I have also edited my HOST file in my WINDOWS directory (no extension .) All you do is add a line with a name for your xbox (i call mine XBOX) and then the ip address.
So then you can ftp to: ftp: XBOX User: XBOX Pass: XBOX for example..

try searching in this forum for the posts about games like. Burnout2 and Enter the matrix.. You will find links to patching appz to download to fix your problems..
It will remove any protection from the .xbe file so it can boot from the HD.. Many newer games need to be patched for this reason..

Hi all,
See guys.. Once again its always something simple.. Just hang in there.
If you get the shits leave it alone for a few hrs..
I would never suggest trying to run games from CDRW on your xbox..
The xbox DVDROM drive was never designed to load huge files from CDRW.. I dont even think they wanted to be able to use CDRW's.
When you ftp files onto the xbox hdd you will run into other issues like GAME HDD protectoin which stops games from booting off the XBOX HDD.. DVD2XBOX will automatically patch most games and remove this protection for you.
Buy yourself a cheap DVD-R burner mate..
Seriously, the price these details you are mad not too especially with media prices..
anyway, just seen this topic was still active and thought id make a update..
enjoy your modded xboxes guys and dont forget we are all here to help

Sounds like you have a Thompson DVD player... But for Xbox it is best to only use DVD-r not +r.
Also Aladdin doesn't really matter as 90% of sellers sell old copies with old code.
I suggest you flash a newer bios onto your chip. You can get it from www.aladdinlive.com
