hey guys/gals. i have greatly appreciated your help in the past and now i am in need again. i am trying to backup my games that i own to burnt dvd's as i have filled my 200gb hdd already...lol. instead of putting them on the xbox...i would like to make copies of the originals so that the originals dont get damaged by my kids. is there away to do this with the pc only. cant seem to get the ftp thing to work, it never grabs an internal ip. so, i was wondering if it is possible to do this just from the pc. thanks for any help you can offer.

well there is no way to do it with JUST your pc. for your ftp problem if you have a crossover cable or a router plug it in and if you only have the 1 inet connection then in ur dashboard select DCHP and it should get an ip if its connected properly _________________

That would be the first thing to look at. Also if you use static make sure you are sharing the internet connection. (im 15 and i couldnt get it my first time so i kept trying things till i got it) one of my common problems was not putting the port number. Try using unleash x. the ip you are connection to should look like this in internet explorer: ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.2:21/ (you see the :21 thats the port number if you dont have that you wont be able to connect.) _________________

post back the network settings you are using for the pc and the xbox
all you need for basic network connection is IP address and subnet mask

k...i have setup my internal network to work on ip:
192.168.0.99 is my routers ip.
pc#1 is statly setup to use 192.168.0.1
pc#2 is statly setup to use 192.168.0.3
xbox when setup dhcp goes to 192.168.0.2 but in the main dash...i get
0.0.0.0
when i setup statly to 192.168.0.2 it seems to get an ip...but i cant connect to it using flashfxp. software says connecting...connected...then in about a min...conn lost. it retries...then conn lost. sorry this is so long coming...lost my xbx hdd the other day...and just got one put back in. config is evox dash...on a 1.6 xbox with the solderless x3. any help would be great. slso...the program suggested in last post...i am trying that tonite for my backups. if i try to use my backups in a reg not modded box...will they work??

No your backups wont work in an unmodded xbox. But to solve your problem if you are just typing in 192.168.0.2 it wont connect copy and paste the following into flashfxp: ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.2:21/
That should get u in there with no disconnection _________________

k...got unleash in as xbmc wouldnt work for some reason. it picks up a dhcp of 192.168.0.2 and my pc is set to 192.168.0.1. default gateway and sub and dns are put in the xbox automatically and they look like the settings on my router. i copied and pasted the link and it still says:
Connecting to 192.168.0.2 -> IP=192.168.0.2 PORT=21
Connected to 192.168.0.2
then after about a min i get:
Connection failed (Connection lost!! this is so confusing...LMAO!!
so now what is the prob??

try using static and set everything. Then share your connection some boxes/networks wont allow dhcp _________________

well, it looks like the xbox is seeing the gateway and the sub settings but not getting an ip. i have tried it both stat and dhcp and it doesnt want to grab an ip. when you say share...you mean use a crossover with a second ethernet card installed??
