sid 3.1 with nkpatcher system. then did 1 click installs with aid 3.1. i'm really cheesed off that i am unable to unlock my hd so that it works with the xbox, i've been trying to do this for 2 nights now and i'm freaking!
with my xbox hd hooked up to my pc i can read it using xplorer360. partition 4 contains backups called EepromBackupBeforeUpdate.TXT, EepromBackupBeforeUpdate.cfg, EepromBackupBeforeUpdate.bin, unlock.log, EepromBackup.txt, EepromBackup.cfg and EepromBackup.bin.
in partition5:
Evox3935>
Backup:
Eeprom.bin
HDDinfo.txt
HDDkey.bin
disk.bin
bios.bin
i've copied the Backup folder files to the linux cdrom eeprom folder and burnt the disc, the locking tools just won't work and i do not know why. this whole thing actually started when i was messing about seeing what i could do with Evox, i selected 'unlock harddrive' then i selected 'power cycle' at which stage the xbox shut down. when i turned it back on i got the error 05. i did the hotswap method and found the harddrive was still unlocked, what i've read up on shows that the xbox won't play with an unlocked drive. so why didn't the xbox relock it? and why can't i lock it with the xboxhdm recover disc that i burnt using the aforementioned eeprom.bin? so far i am totally screwed, it's not even my xbox, it's the wife's and she only let me mess about with it cos i said i was improving it. it was all ok, it's only after fiddling that i screwed things up!
Well if you used Sid 3.1 did you backup your eeprom when you installed it ...
Cos if you did your eeprom.Bin file should be in E:\UDATA\21585554\000000000000\
i don't know why it's not...
if you can't fine that eeprom you will need to Hotswap.. I know you have done that B4..
Have you tryed the file i've highlited _________________

i am about to try that just now, just burning a new boot disc. i didn't do the backup with sid 3.1, didn't know you could mate! is it really necessary to do hotswap since the drive is already unlocked?

well if it's connected to the Xbox the Xbox should lock it when done.... _________________

but the whole problem was that the xbox wasn't relocking it which is why i took it off the xbox. This is how it finally worked for me:
xbox harddrive as primary master on pc,
cdrom with the boot cd as secondary master
on the boot cd i simply put ms dash 5960 in the C folder, didn't make any E or F folder and in the EEPROM folder i put my bios.bin; disk.bin; eeprom.bin and hddkey.bin and hddinfo.txt (supposedly only eeprom.bin is required tho) that i ripped from the harddrive using xplorer360. booted option 3 'load linux with locking/unlocking utils' then on the command prompt i typed in lockhd -a and now all is well again.
listen guys this has been a huge learning curve for me, THIS HAS TAUGHT ME TO NOT MESS ABOUT WITH THINGS I DON'T UNDERSTAND IN FUTURE
