Hey guys,

After several late nights after i get home, I still can't figure out for the life of me, how to get my samba share accessed on a newly modded xbox.

1.6 Halo Case Xbox
X CHanger- 2.5
Router: Belkin PRE-N ->There is an internal setting in the router to identify workgroups, is there any reason this could cause a problem? I haven't changed it thinking it wasn't an issue.

Situation: after setting up duplicate specs (password, name, workgroup) into the xbox (from another working xbox, which is wireless might i add) and have et to see it work. This xbox is hooked up to the router via cat-5 network cable. I can't figure out why. All my wireless devices (other laptops, the wireless xbox, etc...) can access my samba share which is on a

Apple Macbook Intel 2.2 ghz duo chip
Using Sharepoints as described in DJB's Samba setup topic.

Anyone have any ideas??

I have tried changing cat-5 cables. I can't get it to even FTP to it. However, the xbox gets internet feeds and weather so its accessing the WAN.

I think i Figured it out. It was the domain naming feature in the router. So i guess thats a word of advice.

Ok I am confused by the tuts I read on sharing files. I can FTP shit to my xbox, have the weather working now, but cant figure out why it cant detect my files on my puter. I am running a belkin F5D7230-4 wireless g router and 2 pc's plus my xbox- all through network cables. I have selected to share my documents and changed name to WORKGROUP on my pc but it still says no netwrok detected on my xbox. LOL I am dumb I know its something stupid but I dont understand what to tinker with in router or XBMC settings. Any help is appreciated Very Happy

First off make sure to get the newest build of Xbmc if you don't already.

I use the FAT T3CH version. go to the settings, and then into network settings. From there, go to SMB shares, and type in the username and password of the SMB share. Then enter the workgroup, don't worryabout WINS if you don't know what it is you would have to know to use it, I don't.

Usually when you setup SMB there is usually a user name and password to setup. Actually they may be just me.

I have the Windows Laptop I have sharing automatically, and the Mac makes you setup a secure share. So i put it in.

Try going into the Settings menus and just enter the Workgroup name and see where that gets you.

I got 2 more older computers with opensuse 10.2 linux on them, and setting up SMB is a bitch

I don't remember having to do much to setup the Windows sharing on my XP, besides just having to right click and allow for share....wait, I do remember some sort of wizard setup or some sort of deal. Not 100% on what it was.

But my big thing now is that I have to open the xp to up so that the workgroup is recognized and that will allow the mac to be able to share.

Let me know.
